4 out of 5 stars Good Buy   April 4, 2008

The printed directions are weak. However, the GPS system is easy to use and by going through all the screens it is easy to figure out. The directions are accurate. The choice of languages and voices is quite good. A 7 inch screen would be better, but of course, that is available at a greater price. The satelite connection gets lost in a parking garage or tunnel. When you make a wrong turn or purposeley go a different way, the voice says "recalculating" in an annoyed voice like you didn't follow your mother's directions. Then the new directions are announced. It is fun to hear a British or Australian accent once in a while. Chinese is fun too, but I can't understand it.
I am pleased with my purchase.

4 out of 5 stars Extended Warranty on the GPS/ GPS Review   April 3, 2008

GPS is on its way, so I will review that in a bit.

Just to let everyone know you do not have to buy the extended warranty from the same place you bought the item. I was able to get the same one for $25 else where. Just do a search on google for GPS Warranty and they will pop up. I called the company to confirm and they did. Hope this helps.

4 out of 5 stars Great unit   April 1, 2008

I have 98% great things to say about this unit. Only 2 negatives: 1. Initial satellite acquisition is slow. 2. Speaker volume is too low. When it is turned to high the speaker has a high level of distortion.

5 out of 5 stars New Garmin - improved but very similar   March 30, 2008

This is my second Garmin (350 was the first).

This unit has a bigger, easier to see in bright light screen, it has the built in ant (nothing to flip up) and several new features (which I have not tried, except the FM transmitter).

I have read of two major complaints..

1. The new antenna is not as good.

2. The FM system does not work.

Regarding the antenna.. I can see no difference between this unit and the 350 I have... they both work great.

The Fm system, has to be tuned to a frequency that there is not other signal on, and it worked very well. However, you cannot listen to a radio station, so I tend not to use it. I suspect that where the car's antenna is (in the glass or outside) will effect the performance a lot.

Is it perfect? No. There are times where it will pick a strange route, so checking what it will be asking you to do is advised.

However, this is one nice working piece of technology...

4 out of 5 stars Best for the $$$$$   March 30, 2008

This Garmin 750 is the third GPS I have owned and is the easiest to use of the three. Note it does not have Bluetooth or traffic alerts (I did not require either). Like all GPS units, the nuvi is limited to the maps of the day, therefor they may not have the location you are looking for or may have the location marked incorrectly. Also note that some streets are not shown as they really are. With these things in mind I find GPS units in general to be about 85% reliable, more like 95% on major highways & metropolitan streets. The 750's display is good both day and night. The built in speaker is loud and clear.
