Garmin Nuvi 750 March 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had purchased a competitors brand GPS which I had for a month. After compatibility problems I returned it and got the Garmin Nuvi 750. It does all it's supposed to do and works well with my Apple computer. At first I didn't want to pay the higher cost for the Garmin, but as with most things you get what you pay for.

I have been using this GPS for the last several months. I picked it for the user interface, which is simple to use, and picked the 750 over less expensive models in the nuvi line for some of the multiple waypoints, routing and voice to text features it has. As soon as I got it I uploaded the latest software and the lock times for satellites have been very fast. Well under 15 seconds for me and within 16 feet accuracy. Its an amazing unit and I really recommend it. The standard mounting unit that is provided for front window mount works just great! I do wish they had a way to provide concealed wiring but I will have to figure that out just like I did with my radar detector. I just hate wires going all over the place, its a personal thing. I find, since I already have an ipod, I could live without the mp3 capabilities, picture viewing, etc. I don't live in a congested enough area to need to traffic features but I'm glad they are there if I ever do. Its a great unit and I got a great price at amazon...way below the big box stores!

Bravo. This is my third Garmin GPS - might as well stay with the best. First one was built into an iPod and was tough to operate. Second one was used for 2 years ( a C-350 ) and it was good, but made a few mistakes. Now the Nuvi has straightened out all of the mistakes. I would like all to note though- that I use an ouside antenna on my van. This magnetic soda bottle cap sized gadget is almost mandatory. I can put my GPS anywhere in the car I want and still receive superb performance becausee I'm always looking at all of the satellites. Garmin has it as an option, but other companies make them a lot cheaper - they are all good. I bought the bare-bones 650 model ( no blue-tooth ) and it's the same as a Nuvi 750 - even talks through your car stereo speakers. Anyway - you can't go wrong. the price here on Amazon is far less than I can find it elsewhere and delivery is great - no problems anywhere. Buy it - you'll like it.
Assistance #1 February 28, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We recently purchased a Garmin 750 to use on our trip to Florida from Illinois. There were certain unclear functions not completely described in the booklet we received. We called the assistance number at Garmin and lo and behold we talked to a REAL person on our first attempt--no punch in this number and then another. Our trip was made easier by having the Garmin with us. My husband always was alerted which side of the highway he should be on when going on an off ramp or changing routes. This is so helpful in heavy traffic and unfamiliar territory. Once more, on our return, we had another question and lo and behold we still received an answer from a REAL person on our first attempt. To us this is worth the cost of this Garmin product.
Garmin 750, a great buy February 25, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I just got a job as a driver for a local pizza place(Cincinnati) and after MUCH research bought the nuvi 750. After checking Consumer Reports, CNET and the automotive department at Circuit City, they all recommended the nuvi 660. I needed the multi-point routes for delivery and I didn't need the bluetooth so much so I opted for the 750. The FM transmitter I found to work GREAT for where I live. I found a station that is clear and perfect for the FM transmitter (106.7). I bought Microsoft Streets & Trips '07 and trips about 6 months ago and broke it. This 750 is MUCH more sensitive than the Streets and Trips. The menus are easy to navigate and are extremely easy to read. The screen is bright and big. It is big but not too big to put in my pocket with it's case on.
Pros- -Bright clear easy to use 4.3 inch screen -Ideal size -Easy to Navigate menus -Great Accuracy -Built in Antenna -Amazing price on amazon
Features -FM Transmitter -MultiPoint Destinations -SD Card slot(up to 4Gb) -Media player(MP3 Player and Picture Viewer) -Plentiful points of interest (POI) -Easy to add Favorites -Easy to switch vehicle icon. ([...]/extras can change your vehicle on your GPS) -Preloaded Maps of North America and Canada
Cons-(Most you can find in other models) -No Bluetooth -No voice recognition(800 series) -No remote -No Dead Reckoning (continue to track even without GPS, like in a tunnel)*UPDATE*:Just recently I was in Boston and went through a tunnel and it continued to track us, even underwater. Dead Reconing, not sure. -No Included MSN Direct or FM Traffic cable -No sleep button or turn off screen button. (nice for deliveries)
