5 out of 5 stars Great GPS at a Great Price   May 23, 2008

I bought the Magellan Maestro 3250 last week for a summer filled with road trips. I tried it on a short, 6 hour, road trip last weekend and was very pleased. I did an enormous amount of research on all brands, models and prices and this unit has the best features. The text to speech is the best. I don't have to look at the screen to see the name of the upcoming street. Also, the routes have been accurate. A lot of people complain that the system will take them a "longer" route but you have to remember, you may think it is shorter distance or time-wise but it may not be. Also, you may have the system set to least use of freeways or quickest time. Basically, it may be user error.

Also, the product comes with 3 months of the traffic subscription that will re-route you according to traffic delays. Haven't had to use it yet but I am looking forward to it. Lastly, the Bluetooth feature is what sold me on this GPS. Handfree calling when I link my Blackberry - fantastic!!!

I'll keep it brief. Customer service is beyond non-existent!
Bought hand held unit, worked fine in US.
Bought Direct Route EU, software. Would not load on unit.
After 7 months yes 7 MONTHS of emails/letters/ phone calls.
Magellan finally agreed to exchange, but they sent wrong software.
THEY DO NOT CARE, and just give me a run a round AGAIN.
So I have a useless GPS.

This is my 3rd GPS unit. I upgraded from the Magellan 3140.

The 3250 is nice and small. The traffic feature is super. Voice command is just a gimmick, needs a lot more refinement. There are limited commands and you have to have the windows up with the radio off for it to understand you.
It seems to take longer to acquire satellite signals than the 3140. And is just seems to be slower as well.

Overall, how can you go wrong with all the features of the 3250 for the prices.

Not as good as my old Magellan. Constantly rerouting while driving. Difficult to get to turn on sometimes. Am not sure if I'm going to keep it or send it back. My old one never gave me a lick of trouble, just wanted to update. Wish I hadn't.
