Loved it! September 9, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this for a birthday gift and the man is a salesman and uses it constantly to find new locations, saves time and gas. Also a safety feature is the hands free blue toothe while driving.
Please do not buy this GPS September 8, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This GPS has old maps. It is unbelievable that they would sell new map updates for more than $70 but not actually not provide these updates for the brand new gps that I purchased less than one week ago. I thought that my unit had the most updated maps. I found that I was sadly mistaken when I put in an address for a hotel built in 2007 and this thing led me to an empty lot. The customer service people are very unhelpful. They take no responsibility for their product. They just record your opinion of their shoddy product. I hope Magellan goes out of business. I cannot believe that AAA would support such a horrible company and product. The company provides a substandard product and really tries to swidle the consumer to purchase more of its products (maps). Shame on AAA. The AAA roadside assistance is a gimmick. All it does, is give you the phone number of the AAA roadside assistance. I would go for the Garmin, even though it also has flaws, it calculates better routes. The route exclusion function on the Magellan is horrible. Don't be fooled by voice recognition. Voice recognition is slow to respond and pretty limited in its function. It can only recognize a handful of commands after you yell a few times. You cannot transfer previous destinations to your addressbook. The software is not user friendly. Apple should really get into the gps industry full strength and develop a nice interface. This industry could use better competition.

Life was unbearable when this small town boy went to the metro area of austin, dallas, and san antonio. Magellan has made the difference. The Maestro 4250 is everything I wanted and expected. No problem navigation with voice prompts and plenty of travel time with or without the dc adapter. Thank you Magellan. My first and only navigation device I will ever need. I easily found a vietnamese bistro, went to an imax, and other great eating places with no effort. the voice prompts are great and the device is so easy to use, I am now smarter than a fourth grader.

Great product. It performs as expected, although the voice command feature isn't as cool/helpful as I expected. Frankly, I very rarely use the voice command feature.
It's worth the price and comparable to similarly priced Garmin models. Word of note: If you use ANY shortcuts that the Maestro 4250 doesn't recognize, be prepared for frustration. The Maestro 4250 will stop at nothing to get you back on ITS track.
