5 out of 5 stars Magellan Maestro   August 14, 2008
Had trouble w/1st delivery but talked to their CS and a new one was sent immediately. Having fun purposely getting lost in my own city! Taking a road trip in September, think it will really help us avoid those wrong turns that can make a vacation unnecessarily stressful...especially with the cost of gas!!

Very happy with product :-)

4 out of 5 stars say magellan, and its ready for your command.   August 12, 2008

its useful and easy to use with a voice command interface that lets you interact with the magallan by ur words rather than your hands. Its a cool gadget and i am very much satisfied with it.

3 out of 5 stars Great GPS peformance but needs better speakers   August 12, 2008
I really liked the GPS performance and the voice recognition functions of the Model 4250. However, it has a small speaker which could not always be clearly heard at highway speeds - due to wind/road noise. Even with volume set at maximum and with the car radio off. Magellan does not provide headphone or line-audio outputs to enhance sound. Such features are fairly common in the Garmin units. I returned the 4250 and got a full refund from Amazon. They also reimbursed the shipping charges. I'll probably get the Model 5310 which has a much larger speaker but no voice recognition, or wait for the new models due out this Summer. Whatever my future decision, I'll be buying from Amazon again. REASONABLE PRICE, FAST SHIPPING, GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. A wonderful shopping experience !!

5 out of 5 stars Great product, great deal   August 11, 2008
Best price from Beach Camera through Amazon only.... Better speech-to-text than my old Magellan (2200T) and the free 3 months traffic module was actually downloaded as a free year. Not useful in Lexington, but invaluable on our trip to Chicago. This unit links quicker than the 2200T. I can't see myself upgrading again for a long, long, time.

4 out of 5 stars Magellan Maestro is good, not great   August 10, 2008
I bought the Magellan Maestro in an attempt to learn the streets of Boston. So far it has worked very well with only a few issues. It sometimes takes a long time to start up and does not respond to me touching the screen. The directions are mostly good and they allow for you to avoid roads if you so choose. The only problem is that is does not allow you to choose a specific way to go (and keeps trying to turn you around to go their way).

All in all I am glad I bought one and it is well worth the money. The Garmin and Tom Tom equivalents are much more expensive and I am not sure they are worth it. The voice activation features work relatively well if you want to tell the device what to do (which is the main reason for the higher prices of the Tom Tom and Garmin, their voice activation features are greater).

I like the Maestro enough to probably buy one for my parents.
