4 out of 5 stars a deal if you don't demand a lot   January 7, 2008
it is small and light, easy to operate on.
most of the time the route it gives is good.
but:
the language options are limited and it does not have Chinese;
the "follow" button is so close to the bottom bar that they interfere with each other often;
the "zoom-in" button is so close to the ceiling bar that they interfere with each other often;
sometimes it says "GPS signal lost" and you have to wait a while until it "wakes" up.

4 out of 5 stars Great GPS   January 7, 2008
I have never used a GPS before and I am not good with computers , but I just love Mio c230.
I have only lhad it for 1 month but I have used it about 6 times. I have had no problems with it at all. It took me right to the door of several destinations. And one time on the way to the destination I stopped at a park for lunch and to walk my dogs. I had not put it into the Mio but when I went to leave the park ( which I had never been in before. I found that I had gotten confused with all the roads and choices to take. But I turned Mio back on she found out where I was in the park and got me back on track to my destination. It was awsome. I feel safe using this GPS.
I have to admit, there are a lot more features to the GPS that I am capable of using only because I don't have the computer skills, not because the GPS is at fault. I hope to master these in the future. For the price, and the quality I am thrilled with this product and would recommend it to everyone.

4 out of 5 stars Good entry level GPS for the price   January 7, 2008
The reason I picked the MIO 230 was for the text to speech feature at under $200.
It has performed up to my expectations. I would recommend this unit for anyone who wants an inexpensive entry level GPS. The text to speech feature is a must.
The out of the box documentation was enough to get me started but did not include a copy of the Mio-map manual. The enclosed manual shows how to set up the unit and some of the basics but not how to access a lot of the features. I went to the web site. I did not find much under the MIO 230 downloads but after downloading the Mio-map manual for the MIO 220 model I was able to figure out how to get the most out of the unit. Maps are fairly recent. Though a local road that was re-routed in 2006 did not show up, a friends new subdivision I did not expect to be listed was there.
In the test runs I have done. The routes the unit picks are not always the one I would use but they did get me to my destination. Since I will mainly use this unit for out of town trips I did not want to spend a lot of money. This unit has been a great introduction to the world of GPS.

I love this GPS! It is greatest present I have ever gotten. It is easy to use and I haven't gotten lost since I've gotten it!

4 out of 5 stars nice gps   January 5, 2008
I wish it had more POI's, but it works well. Just moved to OR and I haven't gotten lost when I've had this. The screen is smaller than one of the wide units, but I mainly listen for directions and don't look at the unit itself.
