Do not buy May 22, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I did not like this product at all. Was not easy to use, signal was always lost. Have had it less than a month and the screen has cracked can no longer use it. Should have spent a little more and bought a garmin.
I love it May 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My sister has one and we went all over Florida in her RV and we were able to find the greatest beaches and find addresses where our friends and family was staying with ease. I love it and I bought one as soon as I got home so I could have one too.
Great Product for a Great Price May 20, 2008 I have had it for a couple of months now, and I purchased knowing that this could be "hacked". Now the Mio without doing this is about a 3 star product. Once I did a little loading of my own POIs, expanding the POIs to 12 million, adding new skins, and making it much like an iphone; it easily became a 5 star GPS. This ability to change the workings of this product make it very versitile and flexible.
Pros: "Unlockablity" Inexpensive Text-to-Voice Very good mount
Cons: A little slow to route ocassional freezing (due to unlocking)
Overall I highly recomend as a lower tier GPS with high tier functions.
Excellent value for the price!! May 13, 2008 I found this on sale at a local sporting goods store for $99 and for the price it's unbeatable! The maps are good and it updates fairly quickly. It actually speaks the street names to you which at this price in unheard of. I'm sure the maps are a little dated now but the area I live in hasn't changed much. It does have problems on military installations so I wouldn't trust it to find your way around a new duty station.
Great features, but awful routing and difficult to use May 12, 2008 This gps has some great features, but it is inaccurate by at least 100 yards, and does not route correctly no matter how you set it. When you deviate from the route the gps has a real problem re-routing to your destination, due to the fact that is takes some time for the unit to determine your present position. In many cases it recalcultes over and over and then selects a completely different route even though the original route is mech shorter. It routes you thru back streets instead of highways.
I sent it back to MIO for repairs and received it back in 8 days, however it still has the same problems it had when I sent it back. Customer service tells me they can do nothing else. I think the problem is that the firmware needs updating as the Tele Atlas maps are pretty current. One service rep told me that MIO will be issuig an update in the next few weeks. She did not indicate whether it will be a firmware or map update. In the meantime I'll keep using my Magellan Maestro 3140 which is the best of the many GPS units I've owned. If Mio does update the firmware I'll keep it, if not, its going.
