4 out of 5 stars Navigon GPS Model 2100   January 18, 2008

I own a Garmin GPS for general aviation and a Magellan Roadmate in another vehicle, in addition to my Navigon 2100. Considering the Navigon 2100 price, less than $175.00, it is a great purchase. The feature, speaking street names, makes it easier to use than my more expensive Magellan which does not have the option.

A great product for the two weeks it worked, then a nightmare!!
Read the reviews about the great features the item has then consider this.
Mine worked for two weeks, then the scren shot off after about half a second on. The warranty for Americans is pathetic. I was told within a week someone would come up with a resolution. No one called, so I called I was told they have not set up anyythin to deal with american warranties but maybe in a month or two. Being that they told me their engineers are working on it and they don't even want to look at my product I imagine this must happen A LOT. BUYER BEWARE!!!! I will update if they ever fix my product.

3 out of 5 stars If only I could combine it with another   January 16, 2008

Bought the Navigon 2100 as a gift for myself. My map is super outdated... Okay, at least 3 years old or slightly older.

The POI function is the most disappointing. The names of stores to shop at mostly are not in the database. Mostly shopping centers are. Only thing is I don't usually know the names of shopping centers or which stores are located in various shopping centers. So, if you want to go to Walmart or Target or KMart, this gps won't be able to direct you to the closest one.

The reality view highway exit feature is beautiful. It is really cool and neat.

The keyboard is kind of difficult to manuever when typing things in.

If you can try to test out the POI feature on these things before purchasing. This did very well with gas stations, restaurants, and hotels. They even popped up on the screen while you were driving.

It's not a bad unit if you're traveling. But if you're local and just going someplace unfamiliar or want to get home from someplace unfamiliar or go to the closest Target from an unfamiliar starting point, this GPS isn't it. If you're traveling a highway you don't know very well and want to make easy exit transitions and find food, gas or lodging with ease - this is great!

4 out of 5 stars Happy with my 2100   January 15, 2008
I received the Navigon 2100 for this past Christmas and I am very pleased. Going to the zoo we tested it out and got us there perfectly. Of course when i tested again and entered a local address it had me going a little roundabout but that is fine since I know the area and the quickiest way.

The voice activation is loud and clear as well. I like the look of the 2100 too.

Bottom line: if you want the state of the art, top of the line, very best in navigators that will send you to Timbucktu and back, then spend a thousand bucks and get it. If you are comfortable with a middle of the road device that will get you from point A to point B, this is a save purchase. Especially at the price!

Happy shopping.

4 out of 5 stars Not perfect but really good   January 15, 2008
This product does have some problems and you have to tweak the settings to get better results but overall Im very happy with it and it has helped many times. It can give some crazy directions at times but the drop down signs and real view is so helpful.Navigon 2100 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator
