I'm still waiting for the maps and SW upgrade... January 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is my first GPS device and I am pleased by the great help that this little thing provides you on the road... BUT the maps are out of date and several times the route is weird... even by trying different profiles. A nice feature: RealityView, it's really cool and helpful A nice to have: the arrow icon should change depending on the route profile you are on (car, bike, pedestrian & fastest, optimum, shortest). And the Day/Night screen setting should change automatically. A must have: maps and sw upgrade. I'm in Austin and the Navigon gets lost too often... and the address/POI input is slow. The road names in Spanish are funny... The Navigon spells these Rd, Ln, Blvd instead of saying Road, Lane, Boulevard. Anyway... for $180 I guess I cannot ask for more...
navigon 2100 GPS Review January 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased the Navigon 2100 because it offered the latest features in GPS Navigation. Amazon offered it a price that was very competitive and had no shipping costs. However I found that the 3.5 screen was very difficult to use . The numbers are so small that it's very easy to make a mistake inputing information. On the plus side, the unit had all the latest maps and the Traffic update is a nice feature although it was extra $65.00.
I ended up returing the Navigon and went with a Tom Tom with a 4.3 screen.Navigon offers a unit with a 4.3 screen but its's very expensive, The TomTOm One Xl-S is a great deal at $299.00.
All in all the Navigon has lots of nice features and the 4.3 navigon model is a state of the art unit but pricey. If you have small fingers go with the Nav. 2100 it's a slick unit. Voice directions are good but the quality of the spoken words are very poor.
"Better than NUVI 350" January 12, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful

User Rating 9/10 Spectacular User Summary "Better than NUVI 350" by JaimeCayo (see profile) - January 11, 2008
Pros: 3D reality View, Lifetime Traffic, Speed Warning
Cons: Brand, new in the market, POI (fire departments, Post Offices)
hide (x)Full user opinion I took me 3 months to buy this, I first started looking at it on September, when it was advertised on Time Magazine, was going to buy on Black Friday, but wife did not want one. I bought mine on X'ams.
I read all reviews, I like doing research before buying something, and my feeling after reading them all (I went through 4 web sites) was that this had a lot of potential and that a lot of users did not really use it before jotting down their thoughts.
I have used NUVI 350, and 670 before and I thought they were the best, I was wrong.
NUVI takes to long to link onto satellites, over 2:10 (twice it took over 20 minutes, I am not kidding) with NAVIGON it has not taken me more than 2:10 (the shortest 1:50) even on a rainy day.
Comparing the 350 against the 2100 (had them both in the car) the 350 showed the same route, same distance. The NUVI showed a shorter ETA than the NAVIGON, but while driviing the NUVI will go up.
As far as being user friendly goes, I preffer the NAVIGON, its more like windows, and although the NAVIGON is pretty much standard like the other manufacturers, the NAVIGON is really easy to get used to and faster.
I also use a stylus.
The reviews that I read daid that the NAVIGOn took sometime to show the addresses while typing, that is because it shows the options, narrowing them. Something that can be construed as a nuisance, but its not.
The 3D really view is awesome, my wife likes it, now she can drive herself on the instersate without having to call me, and ask me what exit to take. I wish I had the 7100, for bigger view, but its too pricy. The speed warning feature is good, I like it.
The cons: POIs, no Post offices and no fire departments. Car mount is good but does not have the "ball" behind the mount, therefore you can only move side wise and not tilt it.

I love the Navigon 2100, it's so easy to follow. I find other GPS to be difficult. Other portable GPS should be simple so the buyers could get to their destination. The Navigon 2100 was worth the investment.
navigon 2100 January 12, 2008 I bought this GPS to take me to the Airport in Dallas. As I entered the city, it took me to downtown Dallas intsead of the Airport! It is easy to use but also does not find enough POI's. It only shows places that your would use on the road, i.e. Gas Stations, Hotels,Resturants. I had tried to find a store and it did not find it, only to find out I passed the store while I was driving. It is a very nice system but, it was not able to find the things I need. Maybe in a few years they will add more POI's and I will try again. So for now I will use a map. All in all the graphics are great and the GPS is easy to use.
