1 out of 5 stars Do not buy it.   May 9, 2008

I already bought the Garmin 200 for someone. This was a great GPS. I thought I would buy something different for myself. I thought the real style graphics on the Navigon would be interesting. Plus it would announce the names of the streets. This was a horrible unit. No instruction booklet. Difficult to use. Too many sub catergories to go to. The interesting graphics only came up when you arrive at a difficult situation. I promptly returned this unit and bought a Garmin 260. Fantastic gps. Easy to use. Very user friendly. Announces names of streets. Should of avoided the headache with the Navigon from the start.

2 out of 5 stars Didn't work well for me -- wrong turn instructions, bad route choice   May 9, 2008

Admittedly, I only used this once, for the drive home from Radio Shack to my house. And, admittedly, I live in the country where some online map sites have trouble navigating. (But Google Maps can find our house and all street names without problem.)

Now for the Navigon 2100: While at Radio Shack, I entered our home address and said go. It worked for a couple of miles, until I needed to turn into the library. When leaving the library, it told me I had to turn left to get back on the correct route when not only did I need to turn right, it was the only option. Then once I got just past the main edge of the city, it didn't have any indication that there were side streets in some cases, even for streets that have been there for years. Then it gave me a route two miles out of the way to get to my house. Finally, it told me I'd arrived at my house about a mile before I got there. (Our house was built 18 years ago so it's not like we're in a new subdivision.)

Maybe others will have better luck if they travel within more populated areas where more time was spent getting the maps right. That's why I'm giving it two stars, because it might work better for the majority of people than it did for me and my situation. But I'm returning this on my next trip back into town.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent product for this price with all the features you would want!!   May 7, 2008
I bought this device after reading all the reviews from Amazon and I must say, I am not at all disappointed. This is an excellent product if you are looking for a GPS for close to $150. Has all the features which you dont usually get in any device in this price range. The TTS and Reality View features are too good and makes your life much easier...
The only glitch is that it takes some time for this device to lock the signal (not more than 3-4 minutes) but its something with which I can live with. I cannot comment upon the routing algorithm of this device but you'll find a lot of settings using which you can customize the route you wanna take for any place...

I would definitely recommend this product over a 100 times...!! :)

2 out of 5 stars Would not recommend   May 6, 2008

This GPS has nice features but they don't always work. Directions are not accurate 50% of the time, it can easily direct you to the left while you need to take a right, etc. It came with an old software that doesn't recognize the streets that had been changed long before I bought it. I wasn't using it for about a month, and when I needed it again, it wasn't connecting to the satellite. Called Support that led me through re-boot process but it didn't help. Next time I turned it on, it was giving me a card error. Now sending the SD card for exchange. I heard a lot of good things about Navigon, and I am very surprised it's working that bad.

3 out of 5 stars Nice overall, but lacking in a few areas   May 5, 2008

I am, overall, happy with this GPS. It does a great job on highways, especially with rendering complex interchanges. You will never miss your exit again! It recalculates routes very quickly if you miss a turn (I did this intentionally). It does hang onto it's desired route a little longer than I would like and tries to circle you back, even if you are taking a known "shortcut" or detour. I was also a little disappointed with the POI's. I thought there could have been more included and the menu to get to them could have been easier. It is also a little slow to find satellite signal at start-up. But for it main function, it works quite nicely for the price. This is my first GPS, so I don't have much of a base to compare it to...
