Compact Easy Affordable GPS from Navigon May 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is not a professional review: I have used Garmin Nuvi 350 (my Dad's) and Tom Tom (something - business's) and the Nuvi was a great unit but too pricey for me. I have been looking for an affordable unit with decent features and one that looks halfway decent. When I stumbled across this one I had to do a "background" check to see if it was any good. Most reviews were 3.5 stars or better. The price is very affordable and it looks good, performs GREAT and so I bought it.
I have used on three trips and this unit got me there with absolutly no problems. The voice guidance may be all you need as she is very accurate. The neat feature is the Reality View. It is amazing. This feature alone will aid my wife so much as she gets confused when coming into major interstate road changes. Reality View will "sort" it out and show you exactly which lane you want to be in and the voice will tell you also (something like, "You want to be in the left lane").
POI are a nice feature too. The other day we spontaneously decided to eat at a popular Pizza place on the other side of Dayton (Ohio) and I knew where it was but I needed cash from my ATM so I drove around the area looking for our bank. I thought I could easily find one as it was a busy shopping area. After five minutes it donned on me that I could use my new GPS so I selected the POI section, ATMs, and my bank was right there only 0.8 miles away. Five minutes later we were inline at the Pizza restaraunt! Very very nice.
Screen is sharp and bright. You can change many features. I would suggest the "Optimum" route. Sound is very loud so I have had to reduce it to a reasonable volume. A great buy. Now my father-in-law wants one and he's on a retirement budget so it will be affordable for him.
From Ohio.
Navigon 2100 May 2, 2008 This is my first GPS but I did quite a bit of research on the different brands, and feel I made an informed decision For the money this seems to be packed with features. The maps look excellent on the screen. I don't like the power cord being on the bottom of the unit, and the sound could be a little louder, but other than that I am very pleased.
Does not work in Florida, can't find addresses. April 30, 2008 I bought this Navigon about a month ago, and took it to Florida to visit relatives, I could never find the addresses by typing them, but If I get there without the GPS, I could save the location and then go back to the same location without problems. The thing is that when using a GPS is to find a route without even getting there. I have inquire with Navigon support without an answer, so I want to alert those guys that live in Florida that this GPS the Navigon 2100 is not a good option, even with the new upgrade 1.2
Navigon 2100 April 27, 2008 This is the first navigator I have ever owned. I use it to find places in my business. For the most part it is very acurate and easy to use. When you begin to enter an address it pops up all the available addresses for you to choose from. This can help if your address is not exact (you see as with any map or navigation device you need a good accurate address). There are some mapping errors but I suppose they all have that problem. It does have one glitch that if your not aware of it can be a problem. In my area some of the area codes that I enter indicate another state but if you go ahead and enter it anyway it does get you to the right place (odd but no biggie if you are aware of it). In the latest software release they include a free map update (quite a plus since map updates can cost almost as much as the gps). I purchased another one for my son who works with me and another one for my other son. I recently spoke with him and he really likes it. Some times it indicates that you have arrived but you are really 50 to 100 feet away. Well if you get that close and can't find it maybe you should just go home. When you consider how complex the software must be its amazing how well they do work. The 2100 does not have all the mp3, dvd or game stuff but then who really needs that foolishness in a navigator. This is a very good solid basic navigator and for around $150.00 I consider it a very good buy.
works great no problem so far April 18, 2008 works great no problem, although if are familiar with an area there are shorter routes
