Great GPS December 24, 2007 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
The unit comes as a complete system that plugs into your computer, like iPod with iTunes. It gives access to maintain, add maps, and functionality beyond any of the others - I think they call it "best-in-class". And it doesn't chat on and on like Magellan. It recalculates routes without fuss, and offers lots of different voices - just avoid John Cleese!
It synchronises in 20 seconds or less in a new location - much better than Garmin. It uses the same maps everywhere on any model. Garmin forces you to rebuy another model that runs those missing maps! Not all maps are available in Australia, for example, where you need certain models of Garmin. And in this day when you get off the plane in different countries frequently, who wants to have lots of different models of GPS in your briefcase. I am very happy. And Amazon is very fast and helpful. Thank you.
I can now trash the rest of my GPS units!
Good chose December 24, 2007 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
Very happy with it. Easy to use, big screen, and clear voice. I've had it only a short while and plan to use it when I go to Florida, so I have used it locally to test it out.
TomTom one xl-s December 24, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
So far it has done a fine job in giving me directions. I find it to be easy to set up and use. I really like being able to just put in latitude+longitude numbers as I often go geocaching and this is how the parking directions are given. The spoken street name feature is really nice to have when a couple of streets or exits are fairly close together as it helps in deciding which is the correct one to take.
Tom Tom XLS GPS system. December 24, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I purchased the Tom TOM XLS GPS system , and found it to be A great unit, and very easy to use. I took it out of the box and turned it on , and it found the satellite in less than 1 min. It was easy to set up and I had it operational in 20 min. I love the unit , and would recommend this unit to anyone. A great middle range unit for the average person, with many of the more expensive unit features.
Fantastic GPS December 24, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I would first like to say that if you are looking for a gps nav system for your car that has Text to Speech without all the bells and whistles this is it. It has a nice big screen and is easy to use. With a bluetooth phone you don't have to worry about being stranded again but then if you have a bluetooth phone why would you worry to begin with? Just dial 911 right! But this is a very nice system for the money and with TomTom home software you can get updated maps and help update maps yourself. About the only complaints I have are the fact that they don't offer any other mounting options.
