2 out of 5 stars modern electronic junk   June 8, 2008

I am unable to locate my home address in USA. This unit also gives wrong directions at some locations. You can not even change the route for good. I have the latest map version 2.0 on the unit and that is why i call it a modern electronic junk. It does seem to work to well on highways but not in the open country where lots of roads are missed. Will not recommend for use in the country setting.

2 out of 5 stars bad bluetooth   June 8, 2008

I got this phone because it said that it was bluetooth compatible. However, when me and two of my friends tried pairing our phones with the device, neither of us was successful. we turned to the 3 page booklet that came with the device, but that didn't help. we tried calling TOMTOM, but it they were closed on the weekend. so finally, searching through the web, we realized that the bluetooth was only good for getting traffic and weather, and useless for making or receiving calls (for hands free with your phone). Further, non of our phones were listed in the devices to even do that, and our carrier (Sprint) wasn't there either. The screen size is good, the dimensions for the device are good too, but hands free calling was the one feature I wanted on the phone.

Over all, I would say get something else.

3 out of 5 stars No map of Mexico for Tomtom   June 3, 2008

Really good product, working fine in USA. It speaks English, French, Spanish etc... perfectly but if you live in Mexico don't buy it, there is no map of Mexico existing for Tomtom, and it doesn't works !

5 out of 5 stars Road trip test for TomTom   June 2, 2008

TomTom ONE XL-S 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator

I went on a 3700 mile road trip, and put Tommy boy to the test. I was well satisfied with its performance. I never lost signal, and the accuracy was right on the money. It found motels and other points of interest for me. No complaints here....

5 out of 5 stars Very good GPS for price   June 2, 2008

Nice GPS unit, easy to use, that gives out the street names. The touch screen menu is very easy to use. Set up is also very easy. If you are not wanting to spend a ton, this is the unit to buy. I have not seen it cheaper in stores either. Several features that are notable are "Help Me" which gives you an exact location if you were needing to call in for assistance. Map Share is also a nice feature, in that, for one year, all TomTom users can add to the existing maps new streets or points of interest. It works straight out of the box or you can hook up to the internet to customize voices, map colors, and other features. The picture is very clear, the directions are good (the computer voice is not always accurate on pronunciation but that is no big deal overall because you can see the streets coming up on your map). You can pay for more features in an more expensive unit but why? Most people already have a bluetooth earpiece. Traffic alerts might be nice, but are they actually worthing paying extra money for. Most people will use this for traveling and I use it for work. It saves me quiet a bit of time from looking up in a Mapsco or map. The display is very simple also, showing your current speed, estimated arrival time, miles, current time, and direction. You will not be disappointed with this product.
