Works amazingly good March 10, 2008 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
During my initial round at my home course, the yardages were off some. I called GolfLogix, they re-mapped the course and sent me an e-mail telling me the re-mapped course was available. I downloaded the new mapping and every distance I've checked thus far is dead-on. This is going to be fun.
The unit itself has a very sturdy feel and is easy to use. Their customer service was excellent.
Not For The Mac February 26, 2008 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
This unit was purchased in Dec. 07. After 4 attempts on 4 different MAC computers( with 4 different units) I was able to download a course. Further attempts to download courses were unsuccessful, (on the same computer). The GPS works very well on the one course I have, but is otherwise useless. I feel Golflogix software needs work.
So Far So good February 25, 2008 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I've only been able to use it twice, but so far I'm very pleased. Every course I've looked for is available, and it's great that I can store so many at one time. The software is easy to use and the downloads/uploads are very fast. It Seems to pick up the satellite in seconds and so far it has never lost a signal. Seems like it's constructed well. So far the only thing I don't like is that if you're less than 30 yards from the green, it says "<30" instead of a yardage. That makes it difficult to know exactly how far your previous shot went, but all in all not a big deal.
Never guess about yardage again February 25, 2008 28 out of 28 found this review helpful
I bought the GolfLogix GPS from Amazon because of the Garmin name and the price. After my purchase, Amazon dropped the price by $4. I sent them an email and they refunded the difference. How many merchants will do that? Many of my golf partners have the SkyCaddie SG-2 and I think that the GolfLogix is a superior product. It uses common AA batteries, although it consumes them quickly, as noted in other reviews. That's not a big problem. I use Energizer rechargeables, and keep an extra set in the bag ready to go. Unlike the SkyCaddie, if the battery goes dead in the middle of a round, you can easily pop in a new set and be back in business by the next hole. All of the courses in my community are covered by GolfLogix, except executive links. On the first day of use, a passing rain shower had the SkyCaddie folks scrambling to cover their units. I had no worries with the GolfLogix as it is water resistant. During initial use, I checked the accuracy with every known marker on the course (200, 150 & 100 yards) and the GolfLogix was with 2 yards every time. Perhaps the most amazing part of the information is the distance to hazards. One dogleg on my home course is protected by trees on the right. GolfLogix gave the distance to the trees. Once you set it for the first hole, you don't have to touch it again. The screen is very clear and easy to read. I am far sighted and prefer to wear sun glasses instead of reading glasses on the golf course, but I have no problem reading this gps. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because of battery life. I would have made it four and a half, if I could. It is truly an amazing product that every serious golfer should have.
Garmin is still the greatest February 24, 2008 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
I bought my Garmin GPS last year. It has been a wonderful help in all the traveling I do. Last week I bought a Golflogix on Amazon and used it on Thursday. I played in a foursome with a man who had a sky caddi. we went toe to toe on the front nine comparing yardages. There was never more than 3 yards + or - differance. Then his battery went dead with no way to recharge. Advantage GolfLogix. Also unlimited downloads for $29.00 in the United States is great. Again advantage Golflogix. Finally, the price. The cheapest I found a new Sky Caddie was $259.00 plus handling. It looked like the cheaper version(less features I guess). I payed $180.00 including handling. The drawbacks are no shoing of the shape of the green, however the coures I play I am either familiar withe the green shape or the score card shows the shape. It also does not have last shot rememberance, but I understand that a new model is coming out that will have that feature and other features such a holding up to 20 courses. Also software up dates will be available to those who have the older models. I am extremely pleased with my purchase.
