Pretty Cool October 11, 2008 I have my ipod plugged into my car stereo's aux input. Using this product, the volume is controlled completely by the stereo, rather than both the ipod and the stereo, which would be the case if I plugged into the headphones jack. To me that's an advantage, because I'm always switching from listening on my headphones, to plugging it into my car through the pocketdock. There's no fussing with the volume. Being able to plug a charger through the additional USB connector while I'm listening is fantastic. I could go on road trips, and not have to worry about battery power. Very nice.
Line out DOES NOT give better sound quality with Nano March 11, 2008 I tried using this dock with my 1st generation Nano. I found absolutely no difference when connected to the headphone jack or the PocketDock line out. I tried this with a car stereo which has a aux input jack as well as a home amplifier Yamaha HTR 5550.
Other than this, the product is definitely of good build quality. Only wish the line out worked as advertised.
Great Product for iPod Line Out Capability & USB Connectivity January 26, 2008 I bought this product directly from Sendstation to use with my 5G iPod Video when I connect it to my headphone amplifier or my car stereo auxiliary input. Using the line out audio jack on the PocketDock significantly improves the audio quality in both situations in comparison to using the headphone jack on the iPod directly, as it's best to use a clean unamplified signal when connecting to a better amplifier system. Another result is that I can run my stereo equipment at a lower volume level to get a very powerful and clean sound. I would imagine that since you're no longer using the iPod's internal amp circuitry that you are saving its battery life as well.
Although I didn't get this product for this purpose, the USB connection can come quite handy. I chose the USB version over the Firewire since iTunes no longer supports syncing the 5G iPod via Firewire.
I virtually have no complaints and in comparison to other reviews I have had no problems with the PockedDock becoming easily unlocked from the iPod. In addition, the line out of the PocketDock holds 3.5mm plugs very securely.
Excellent for my needs January 24, 2008 I purchased this item for connection to my home stereo & boombox, both of which have aux inputs. The sound is clean, and the connection at the iPod stays in just fine. The connection at the ipod could be improved with a locking mechanism similar to the USB cable that comes with the iPod from the factory. Otherwise everything is of excellent quality and design.
Handy product January 18, 2008 Simple, functional. Pricing seems a bit high, but I don't think anyone is getting rich on this kind of stuff (or are they? :-)
