Don't skimp on cables! October 9, 2008 After purchasing an Onkyo receiver and a Velodyne subwoofer, I decided to take a chance using a less expensive cable. I received it promptly from Amazon and hooked it up to my subwoofer pre-amp out on my receiver. The Velodyne fired up and sounded tight. After a few minutes of use, however, the woofer started receiving a constant low frequency signal, presumably noise from a poorly shielded cable.
I went to my local electronic store and purchased a a Monster 400SW subwoofer cable. After installing the Monster cable I've had no problems with my woofer. I would not recommend this cable for use with any system. The cable claims to have double shielding, but after my use I don't think it's as well shielded as it claims. The cable is sub-standard in quality. Besides, after you've spent so much money on components, do you really think you should skimp on cables?

This cable comes in a retail box and looks and feels much more expensive that what I paid for it. Not to mention my bass is now virtually distortion less now that I switched to this. Used in conjuntion with it's cousin Belkin AV20000-06 PureAV digital optical audio cable you have a match made in heaven for pennys on the dollar. I couldn't be more pleased. If you read reviews on the optical cable doesn't say plugged in, there is something wrong with the thing they are trying to plug into, not the cable itself. Works great for me!!
Nice Cable for the Money December 26, 2007 Nice solid, sturdy cable that helps my subwoofer bump. 1/5 the cost (or less) the comparable Monster Cable.

Cable didn't work right out of the box...I spent good money on the rest of my gear and cables, so I guess I shouldn't cheap out on the subwoofer cable:( Going with a higher quality one next time!
Not worth the money February 9, 2006 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was lulled in by the low price like everyone else. The first one of these cables Amazon sent me was faulty and wouldn't transmit a signal at all. The replacement they sent transmits a signal, but not efficiently. I had to tweak the LFE settings on my amp to get any sound out of my sub. After the tweaks the sound is good, but isn't any better than a cheap cable.
Out of curiosity I swapped in an old junky rca cable and it actually worked better. I've tested with other cables too, so I know that the problem isn't with my amp.
It's possible that I just have bad luck and that Amazon sent me two faulty cables. Whether it's bad luck or just a bad cable brand, my advice is to not buy this cable unless you like taking chances.
