Do not use with AM radio November 18, 2007
The wrapping for this adaptor states that it is not for use with a radio, since it will cause interference. That is so. Amazon should not recommend this for use with the Sony partable radio. But it is OK for FM and TV audio.
 Great Product July 30, 2007
This product does just what it says it will do. I use it to copy stuff from tape recorder into computer and save on battery power. Shipping was a little pricey (which boosted the overall price), but product could not be found locally, so that's okay.

Although this item seemed a bit higher-priced than other AC adapters, the instructions for my new Sony portable CD player specified this model. The instructions even said that using any other model adapter could cause a malfunction.
The Sony AC-E45A AC power adapter was definitely worth the cost.
Two features are especially nice: #1 The plug in head is slimmer than most adapters. That means it isn't so heavy and doesn't stick out from the wall as far as others. #2 The plug's prongs even fold in when not in use which is more convenient for packing.

I use this to listen to my cd player at night when im ready to sleep. This adapter is perfect for that & saving money on batteries while using little current. The cord is nice & long as well.

Both Amazon and Sony present this power supply as suitable for the ICF-M410V Sony Radio. (Check Sony's web page)
Only when you receive the wretched thing and go through the slashing, cutting and hacking that modern packaging requires, do you find that this item is completely useless with the radio, emitting a loud hum that drowns out any reception.
Now I have to package it up, write and explanatory letter to Amazon, and try to get my money back. Then I'll have to find a power supply that is suitable for the radio. I have a feeling that I am not going to be successful, as one of the other reviewers has found.
So now I'm stuck with a radio that will only function with batteries, after it was presented as being compatable with a charger - why else would it have a female input for a DC jack?
To say that I am annoyed is putting it mildly. What a bloody scam!
