5 out of 5 stars Satisfied   November 17, 2008
I am satisfied with the quality of the speakers, play call of duty 4 every day at lunch and after dinner with some friends, and it really makes the game play that much better.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome   November 13, 2008
Ignore all those bad reviews these speakers are the best ones especially for the price. The sound is unbelievably crisp and the bass is perfect. The only downside is that you need to have a computer that is compatible with 5.1 surround sound. I sadly found out that even an intergrated sound card that supports it still doesnt sound right so i bought a new creative sound card. Above all, this is the surround sound you want. There is no point in getting the z5500 its just unneccesary.

5 out of 5 stars Works as promised   October 30, 2008
Speakers work for all my movie/gaming surround sound needs. Control box is well designed, easy to use. Color-coded setup. Strong cables to the surround speakers is nice, an improvement over my last set of speakers.
The ability to hang the center speaker on my monitor is a plus.

I just bought a new Dell XPS M1530, which has 5.1 surround sound support. So I decided to get this speaker system. I have an older Samsung DVD 5.1 which I now hate, due to its underpowered Subwoofer and crackling speakers. This system is built around the subwoofer, with all the ports on the back of it. It is controlled by 1 control pad, which is very simple to use. It has multiple inputs, for Red/White RCA connectors, which I use for my Xbox. And it has a microphone and a headphone jack on the control panel. Sound quality is amazing, ranging to classical, to hardcore metal. I had to take pictures off my wall, as I was afraid they would fall. I can hear music anywhere in my house as well. The sub is amazing. The ability to adjust the volume of the sub, center, and surround speakers helps a lot. It also has 2 matrix modes, redirecting the sound to better suit what you are using it for. Gaming is excellent with it, hearing bullets behind you, etc. You can also create custom artwork to make the speakers look different.

My biggest complaint would be the matrix modes. They really detract from music in my opinion. They are of course, optional. Gaming is excellent with it. Also the satellite speaker wires are a bit too shot, but you can extend them with some small adapters from Radio Shack. Be sure that your sound card has 3 outputs that support surround sound, otherwise, this system is pointless. I had a problem when I first got the speakers, but it was my configuration settings in Windows.

The speakers are really awesome! exactly what i needed!

Pros: The speakers are just perfect for my small dorm room. They fit fine on my desk and don't clutter anything, they produce clear nice sound, even at high levels.

Cons: the bass is really heavy (which isn't really a con if you think about it, but i have to turn mine way down). BEWARE you have to have a sound card (or other form of mutliple jacks) if you want to hook these speakers up on a computer for true surround sound. (i just have two headphone jacks and that let me use the 4 surround speakers, and it still sounds amazing).

I haven't hooked it up to a television set yet and i don't really plan on it, but i'm sure they would do well, especially for gaming too.
