5 out of 5 stars Great option for Mac PowerBook G4's   October 17, 2008

I bought this drive specifically because it has a firewire interface and my old 12" PowerBook G4 laptop does not have USB inputs that are powerful enough to run most external hard drives. With the firewire, though, it works just fine -- no need for any other external power. I formatted the drive using Disk Utility and then set it up to be my Time Machine backup drive. Easy as can be.

5 out of 5 stars Talk about easy!   September 21, 2008
Very easy to use. I literally just hooked it up and it was ready to go - no setup software, no disk formatting. My system is MS Windows XP. The only negative for some people might be the 40 gig memory, but for those who need to back up only their data files, it's probably more than big enough.

4 out of 5 stars Compact and easy to use   September 19, 2008

I normally buy Western Digital Passports, and still love those. I wanted a nice looking, compact, firewire and USB2 (something WD does not have) external drive for my MBP. This is a great drive, quiet, low profile and light weight. Highly recommend. I have had it for 2 months+. Firewire is the only way to go for moving large files for backup.

4 out of 5 stars small, portable, fast   September 1, 2008
Software that came with it is cumbersome and difficult to figure out for me!
I'm using it with a Mac so I've resorted to just drag and drop to save.
Thus 4 stars instead of 5.

This is so easy to use and it's fast too. I have hundreds (OK, maybe thousands) of photos and it only took a little while to put them on the portable drive and then transfer them to another computer. Easier and faster than burning them onto CD's. Nice product!
