Couldn't even get it to run October 5, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I couldn't even get this program to run. Actually, it did run on my Mac under a different username -- one with virtually nothing else installed -- but wouldn't work under my username. Calls to support were useless. I got the usual drone-type replies where they were obviously copying-and-pasting some responses that had little or nothing to do with my problem and generally didn't even relate to my operating system (OS X).
Of course, having opened the product, it was too late to return it. So I was simply out the money on a product that doesn't work at all for me.
Given all this, I think one star is perhaps too much. Under some conditions, the product simply doesn't work at all, and if it doesn't work for you, you will lose your money with no recourse.
Painful and not intuitive to use October 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have had to pick up this software simply because it's the only way that I can conveniently work with our bookkeeper and our accountant in our nonprofit. But I have not encountered a less intuitive and painful to use piece of software in a long time.
To give an example (that may make sense to accountants but not to people who don't have a background in accounting like me): when you are entering a new transaction, you have to physically click outside of the box where you enter the dollar amount in order for the transaction to register the amount you entered and not the default amount (the previous one) for the vendor that the transaction was made with. That is completely counter to the way every other piece of software works that I have used before.
If you don't have to use it, don't buy it. You will thank me for the trouble it will give you. Over time, yes: you learn to live with it, but it is not something that I look forward to, when I do the finances of our organization once a week.
Not able to share info from Quickbooks for Windows. September 4, 2008 I spent hours on the phone with tech support and they still were not able to tell me how to back up my quickbooks for mac with info from quickbooks for windows. If you are trying to switch from windows to mac, look into whether you will be able to transfer your data first.
UGGHH! Stick with the PC version if you can! August 26, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Wow! What a disappointment. I moved over from QBPro 2003 for PC to QBpro 2007 for Mac. I thought I was moving forward, but it is a huge step backwards. The functionality and feature set of the Mac 2007 version are way behind what I had on the 2003 PC version. Printing reports and customer statements is a joke! The window layout is amateurish with no sense of function. What happened, Intuit?
Conversion Problems July 3, 2008 It's a great product and I like the new design and would recommend it to anyone looking for there first finance software. If you are already using a version of Quickbooks make sure it can be converted & opened in the new software. It boasts being able to share with a PC and a Mac, old versions of Quickbooks Mac and even able to open a previous file from Quicken. However, I got stuck in the void. Attempting to open an older PC Quickbooks file (by old I mean the 2006 version) and it could not open it. After further looking into it, the only way to make it work is to find some running the 2008 Quickbooks PC (and convert my old file to 2008 and then to Mac) or find someone running an older version of Quickbooks Mac or of course buying the new PC version as well. Having someone else (that has the new 2008 Quickbooks PC) opening & converting financial information isn't always a comforting thought. Too bad Quickbooks doesn't offer a free 30 day trial of 2008 PC like they do with the 2008 Mac.
