3 out of 5 stars Ok, but issues....   August 10, 2007

These are totally plastic. Even though they're rated up to 10 pounds, good luck. I have a set of Aperion Audio 422 speakers and the center channel (largest speaker) weighs 7 pounds. Even with one of the mounting screws going directly into a wall stud, the mount is barely able to hold the speaker and the top of the mount is pulled away from the wall. I can't believe anyone would pay over $20 for these, let alone >$50

I bought these mounts to go along with my new home theater system, Onkyo HT-SR800 Home theater audio system with 7 speakers and powered subwoofer Black. This system only has a keyhole slot on the back of the speakers, and these universal mounts where the cheapest solution I saw to allow one to angle key hole mounts.
Pros:
1. The mounts where cheap and if you need to mount 6 different speakers thats important.
2. For speakers of about 5lbs or less these will do a fine job, they held on the satellite speakers, with no problems.
3. Fairly easy to put together, attach one piece to the back of the speakers, another to the wall, attach the two and tighten a screw and your done.

Cons:
1. Really shoddy construction, all of the pieces attach together via tightening of a flat head screw and pressure. The plastic used is very weak and so the screw leaves marks in the plastic even when tightened by hand. In fact, in one case while attempting to tighten the screw sufficiently I managed to screw right through the bracket ruining that piece.

2. Not strong enough to hold heavier front speakers: the front speakers on my system are a fair amount larger then the back and heavier, I think around 10 lbs. The mounts looked like they would not support the weight, despite what it claims. It looked like they would snap off at the joints, I took them off before I actually found out and bought the B-tech mounts, B-TECH BT1 Universal Speaker Bracket for Small Speakers (Pair per box) for the front speakers.

3 out of 5 stars Not great   August 9, 2007

These mounts are not great. They are a cheap plastic, and are a little over complicated. The instructions are confusing and the mounts don't go together the way they say. The plastic washer will not fit in the mounting bracket if you need to put it in for keyhole mounting. I just screwed the mounts right into the wood speakers, and it worked better. The extensions and flex extenders are secure enough but they are just held on by a tightening screw, no screw actually goes through for a secure hold it just applies pressure. All in all they are ok, low profile and serve their purpose. They do sag if set up in a certain way, but you can tighten them to fix that. I guess I would recommend getting these because they are fairly cheap and hold your speakers up.

5 out of 5 stars Good option   March 4, 2007

Great deal for 5 mounts! They were easy to install and there were several speaker mounting options included. My only minor complaint is they only include 1 bolt per speaker mount. If your speaker has two threaded mounting holes on the back, you'll probably want to purchase another bolt from a local hardware store (for about $0.45 ea).
