Great product July 25, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
You will get 2009 maps from garmin for free once you register your product. It recalcultes very fast. I have no complaints with it.
What you need in a GPS July 25, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is just my second GPS. It replaced a lesser known brand that did very bad with directions. I have driven PA, MD, and NY with this unit and it has been on the money most of the time. The only time it got confused was over a new road (1-2 yrs.) in Allentown, PA.
So far it has been a joy to use. It is very easy to use not just in directions but also the MP3 player. I loaded songs for me, my wife and the kids on a recent 3 hour trip. If your car has an aux input for the radio it is the way to go. You can listen to music and when a turn is coming the music is muted and your instructions are clearly heard.
The display is clear and the functions (icons) make it instictive to work with. I did not need to read any instructions at all. The voice sometimes misprounces or has trouble pronouncing some streets, but not a big deal. Battery life is also pretty good. My son lsitened to MP3 songs while we were walking the harbor for hours and the unit still had juice.
My only gripe would be with the mount. It's a ball-type piece that attaches the GPS to the suction piece on the window that pops off when it shouldn't. I constantly take it up an down (so I won't come back to a broken window) and the bracket can be difficult to stick back up.
Another thing is the time it takes for it to acquire a signal. It takes a few minutes. So you can't just jump in the car punch in a destination and go. Also the option for adding traffic is not really feasible as the extra unit is VERY expensive and the service is limited. Check out the Garmin website for more info if that feature is something you really woule like in the near future. Also while at Garmin site see if you are eligible for a map upgrade. I was able to upgrade to the 2009 maps from a June 2008 purchase.
I'm happy with my GPS. It gets me where I want to go and I can play my tunes on it also. The only real problem with it is that my wife now LOVES it and has kept it for herself. Maybe I will upgrade to the 680 and get MSN traffic.
Great Navigation System July 25, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I recently bought the Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS. It is great. I don't know how I lived without it. So far I have encountered zero problems with it. It is very accurate and the voice is great to let you know when you are approaching a turn. If you get lost easily like me then I definitely recommend this product. It is easy to use and the satellite is fast and reliable. It takes only a few minutes to get setup too!
Great value for money and very reliable July 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Garmin nuvi 350 has been perfect with directions and has recalculated the route quickly whenever I have missed turns. I found its "Points of Interest" database very useful to find restaurants and gas stations on road trips. It is great value for money and very very reliable. However, I have noticed that unless it has power input, the device is unable to catch satellite signal. Anyhow, overall I have found the Garmin nuvi 350 very reliable and would recommend it any day.
Garmin Nuvi 350 is Discontinued July 24, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Consumer alert: The Nuvi 350 is discontinued. I learned this today from a Garmin support specialist, who was trying to help me solve some technical issues. His software suggestion for the remedy is not available from the Garmin website for this model. I called Amazon, who informed me they have not received any notification from the manufacturer about discontinuing this product, therefore, they cannot alert consumers until they do.
It took me 3 hours to download the software. I've spent hours reviewing the PDF manual. Street names are incorrect. Arrival times are way off by hours (the additional software was supposed to correct this.) The most current map will cost an additional $63.99 (DVD). So, I'd say: Buyer Beware!
