 Nice Addition to my new car! February 25, 2007

I got tired of buying a new map book every year to find addresses and locations since I drive anywhere from 60-100 miles a day in Las Vegas. System is sleek and nice, rerouting is quick, and map integration is good. The issue here in Vegas is that with all the construction and new streets, the system doesnt seem to be able to tell you if a street goes through or not. Close to my home the main street I use to get to the highway shows up on the map as dead-end. The GPS kept re-routing me eventhough I knew it went through. However, it is much better than thumbing through a map book, and especially since I travel to other counties and states, I dont need three or four maps to find my way. I do highly recommend it , however, its limitations are easy for me to overcome and enjoy the benefits this machine has to offer. I really dont need another toy to store pictures or music, but all-in-all an awesome addition to my vehicle.

The Garmin Nuvi 350 is accurate, full of of features and most of all very easy to operate. Anyone who is afraid of technology should not hesitate or be intimitated to purchase this unit. This GPS is not just great for getting you there but once you've arrived it allows you to explore your destination ( restaurants((by type)), gas, parks etc. the list is virtually endless ) without the fear of getting lost or getting you back to your origination point. Highly recommended !!

I used the MIO 310x first and then bought brand-new nuvi350. I don't know why this item has 5 stars. Here is my experiance and its comparision to MIO 310x
1. Map-presentation
Mio 310x has better map presentation than nuvi. For example in Mio the map automaticaly changes between bird-eye view and the 3D view based on how far you are from next turn. In Nuvi you are always in 3D mode.
Also the Mio shows all the streets that pass buy where in nuvi, some times it shows the small streets and some times not (set to max detail).
Mio has a cockpit view that shows your speed and the next turn direction, where as nuvi there is no cockpit view.
2.Map and POI
I tested it in sac area and seems both don't have new areas. Rather nuvi failed to find Costco in Folsom ca
3. Menus
Nuvi has better menus, but the key-board does not replicate the laptop key board but is direct a,b,c ... key board confusing a laptop user.
4. GPS tracking
Seem the nivi has a very slow processor. The map shows jerkiness because the map updates after noticable time where in mio 310x map seems to be updating real-time.
I am not happy with either. Mio will give wrong voice commands where as this one crashed with in a week and not comming back. I think these gadgets have a long way to go. They have not reached a point where you can depend on these.

Thanks to the Garmin Nuvi 350, our daughter has been able to navigate the difficult 3 hour drive back to her college. It has saved us time and money and we would recommend it to anyone. It is extremely easy to use.
