| Customer Reviews:
goo, but could be better January 8, 2007 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
General, 350 is good. But there is no manual come with the product. I checked everywhere to find a manual, but even the content list did not mention a manual. Finally, when I connect the machine to the computer, I found a manual. I tried to transfer some MP3 files to the 350. But it was so slow, I though the USB port must be a USB 1.1 port on the machine. I just don't know why such a expensive stuff won't install a USB 2 port on it.
Great pocket size GPS Navigator January 6, 2007 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
After researching various GPS units I selected the Garmin 350 primarily because of the very positive reviews of the features in which I was most interested. I was looking for a unit that I could use both in my private cars and while I was on business travel using rental vehicles. I wanted a unit that gave clear concise audible directions, was compact, could easily be viewed in various lighting conditions, had good sensitivity in locating GPS satellites, and quickly computed and re-computed directions. I found the unit met or exceeded my expectations in all of these areas. * Audible Directions - I have no difficulty in understanding the audible directions and they are given in a timely and very logical fashion. The system announces not only the upcoming turn but will give you an indication if the next direction following the turn is going to be right or left. * Size - The unit easily slips into my shirt pocket and is very easy to take on business trips. * Display Brightness - The unit changes brightness modes depending upon night or day driving. I screen has remain easily readable in all lighting conditions. * GPS Satellite Acquisition - The system easily locates the requisite satellites need for navigation in from seconds to worst case several minutes. Once it has acquired the satellites, it seldom loses connection with enough satellites that would prevent normal navigation. I use the unit mounted on the dashboard and when I am on trips, sitting in a cup holder. Still no problems with Sat acquisition. * Computation even for extensive trips seldom takes more than 20 seconds. Re-computation of alternate routes is typically done in seconds. Typical short trip computation time is 5-10 seconds. I would certainly recommend this unit. It has great features, with excellent performance, at a very good price.
Works great WHEN the maps are right January 6, 2007 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
I got this GPS with high hopes, I travel a lot and I am tired of printing out tripquest maps. I hooked it to my computer and downloaded the latest updates. Everything about the unit works great, it is easy to use, I love how it talks to you, easy directions, etc. However, at least in my area, the maps are wrong, worse than an online free map service. Just in town it was wrong three times in one day and on trips around this area of a 150 miles or so it was wrong each time. Maybe it works well in larger more urban areas but it isn't ready for primetime here yet. I returned the unit and of course Amazon's customer service was great as always. I'm hoping maps for these improve in the future as they continue to come down in price. I am very disappointed but I can't justify the price for something that is wrong so often. The bottom line is the map needs to be correct most of the time.
Garmin Nuvi 350 GSP system January 6, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I like the product. It is small and easy to carry, even if walking. I find it easy to use. It has given me false information a few times. Once, when we were going from Mendocino to San Jose, it had us almost going back over the Golden Gate bridge. Luckily, we know the area slightly, and were able to get back on track. It might have been my fault. I might have pushed a button by mistake.
Garmin Nuvi 350 is Excellent January 5, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Still learning about the product, but so far it is great. Nuvi 350 and 360 are same, except 360 has bluetooth for your phone (if equipped). I did not see it was worth the difference. This is an amazing product and would highly recommend. Easy to use - once you figure out how it works. Very fast. Miss a turn - no problem, it automatically recalculates. Only improvement would be that unit does not include an owners manual, but it is available online to download. Great product. I would buy again.
