4 out of 5 stars Very Good Device at a Reasonable Price   January 29, 2007

I've been using this unit for about 2 months and am very satisfied with its performance.

I like the automatic day & night brightness feature; favorites are easy to enter & save; retrieving favorites using the spell function is a time saver. Overall it's very user friendly and easy to use without having to read much documentation (although I read it all).

Some of my dislikes: the database only gets updated every other year (I prefer annual updates); the Garmin website should be more user friendly; I'd like an audible low battery reminder (the visual one is ok but not displayed while using the map to navigate).

I recommend this unit for those who want a very good portable GPS unit at a reasonable price.

I love this product, travel all over for daughter and soccer, will never be lost or late again! Doesn't even let you mess up! Super product, get one!

5 out of 5 stars Happy with my Garmin c530   January 26, 2007
I recently purchased the c530 Garmin and I am pretty satisfied with it. The screen still is hard to see with the sunlight directly on it. I have used it to navigate to several locations and for the most part I am happy with the route that is chosen. On one occasion it missed a turn, not sure why. I would still recommend this product.

5 out of 5 stars Garmin c530 GPS Navigator   January 26, 2007

I have been most please with this navigator. It is everything I expected of it and though I have not used it on a long trip to date, I have used it locally and it works extremely well. I would recommend it to other, if this unit meets their think could be improved:
1. It does not have a DC power supply that I can charge the battery in the house. So I bought a cigarette lighter receptical from a auto parts store for less than $3.00 and have used it to connect to a battery charger to charge the battery...works great and I'm sure it would be much cheaper than than one which the maker could provide one.
2. Documentation for downloading software updates etc. is lacking in details.

3 out of 5 stars Arizona Phoenix Metro review of C530   January 25, 2007

I have had the Garmin c530 since Dec. 2006. When I first got it I connected to the Garmin website and updated to the lasted street map software package they offered. I have found that this GPS unit is easy to use but is lacking in its software support. I have configured the unit to find the "fastest" not "shortest" way to a destination but it still wants to minimize travel on an expressway. It often avoids the fastest method and steers you to city streets long before it should. The map support is way behind on what I would have expected. On one trip I found that a large Phoenix area east valley interstate expressway which has been OPENed for 7 months doesn't appear on the c530 map. The Graphics on the unit are great and makes staying on course easy, but what good is staying on course if it is not the best course?

I am a little leary now of depending on this device if I go to another city to give me the optimum travel route.

I sincerely hope the map support gets better.
