Great but sometimes frustrating November 29, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I travel 4-5 days a week, throughout the US and Canada - most times in new cities and I love the fact that I can find restaurants, shopping, ATM's, gas stations, etc in every city, and it is so easy to use and re-calculates so quickly. Everyone I know who doesn't have this model has so many more issues than I do and I have convinced probably 6 people to get this unit or change from what they had since this is so much superior. Now the bad. It doesn't always take you the best route, it doesn't know when there are a lot of traffic lights and so will take you on back streets where there are lights every block instead of a highway. It doesn't have some streets/ neighborhoods that are several years old and does sometimes get 'confused' and sends me in circles and wants me to go somewhere there isn't a road. Luckily that doesn't happen often, but it has happened several times. I think it is the best one on the market and it is so portable and easy to update which accounts for a lot. With all my traveling, I bought the one I think is best, and I still believe this one is it.
Not Really for North American Market November 29, 2007 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
I was really impressed with the GPS when I got it out of the box. It came with a 30 day trial traffic light camera and speed zone database. But when I went to authorize the databases, I found Garmin only had European speed and camera databases. I found and purchased a camera database, but have not been able to locate a speed database, When I took the unit out for a test drive, I found the database was so old it even lacked some freeways. The unit is well designed, and the Bluetooth works well with my cell phone. I am disappointed in the poor database, and the lack of the promised camera and speed databases. I wish I could change my rating to 3 stars!
Good garmin November 29, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Actually, I would more accurately say, very good Garmin. Lot's of great features, very lightweight, easy to setup and go. Comes fully loaded with maps and features galore including a wonderful bluetooth capability. Multiple voices, local eataries, gas stations, traffic, points of interest, detour allowances all in abundance. So what about downsides? Well, it is a little bit slow to recalculate which isn't a big deal unless you are on a highway in a big city, in which case you may miss a quick turn which could have saved your trip. Also,it sometimes takes a bit longer than it should to acquire satellites when you start up (not always, but sometimes). Overall I would rate it a must have for all drivers.
Garmin nuvi 660 is great November 29, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I sell homes and I saw this product with a client. It is wonderful to navigate around town and especially great at night. The back light changing from light to dark at night is a nice feature. I highly recommend this product to anyone who travels or who must find new addresses while driving.
Fantastic!!!! November 29, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This little device has changed my life. I can now jump in the car and go anywhere without having to print out mapped routes from on-line services or other directional notes. With the speech-to-text feature, large screen, and clear visual directions, I feel safer and more in control. No more glancing down to try to read directions while navigating. A quick glance at the GPS screen and just listening to the voice directions get you where you need to go. I'd highly recommend this unit to anyone.
