5 out of 5 stars Great GPS   October 8, 2007

This is a wonderful GPS unit. Thieves unfortunately smashed my window and stole mine from a supposedly secure garage. I'll be more careful with the next one. The mount that comes with it and the other Garmin mounts are worthless. I use a ProClip mount, which is expensive, but great.

4 out of 5 stars not perfect   October 7, 2007

Im in law enforcement and use this to respond to calls and backup fellow officers. It's nice not to have to pull your map out every time for directions. But, newer developments and newer blocks that have been around for 2 yrs are not on my 3 month old 660 nuvi. Some streets are named wrong and the house numbers are way off. I am talking of maybe 2% being wrong but in my line of work that is critical. My partner had a older model that showed the surrounding blocks in more detail which helps us. Also while on Vac in NC, a Hwy that has been around for yrs was not showing on the unit. Im still pleased with the unit but have nothing to compare with.

The GPS unit works very well and I am pleased with it. It is probably accurate within 50 feel.

3 out of 5 stars Nice GPS Piece with wider clear screen   October 6, 2007

I bought this piece and initially I liked it very much. It has a wider and clear screen. Directions are quite clear. It has time-sensitive background-shading feature. During nights and days, it shows the difference in background color.
The best feature in this is the Search. we can search for variety of things like restaurants, Hotels, Gas stations, Night clubs and so on. It shows from nearest to far with address and phone number.
Another feature I love in this is Blue Tooth. This helps in using this piece as handsfree to our cellphone. Get into the car, and connect your cell with GPS piece via BlueTooth and that's it. You can answer any calls from this piece. It has a good microphone that catches low voices also.
Other features include MP3 player, calender, picture viewer etc., SD card slot to plug in and play songs and view pictures.
But...the Internal Speaker is of screwed up quality. Initially it was fine but slowly after 2 months, it went really bad. i couldn't even hear the directions properly. Voice started breaking etc.,
I sent it back to Garmin and they sent me a new piece. I hope this one will be okay. I still need to wait and see.
Another issue is, the search, sometimes takes us to wrong places, and some times it takes to the correct address , but with a little marginal error like 100 - 200ft this side or that side.

4 out of 5 stars nuvi   October 5, 2007

i love the nuvi 660. the only wish i had was that i could save certain routes that i like to take. the nuvi sends me on routes that i know aren't right or at least part of the routes aren't the best, so if i could save routes it would be greater.
