Pleasantly Surprised June 16, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have been looking for a GPS for some time now and I have read many reviews. But my first look at the Navigon 7100 had me hooked. I ordered with one day delivery and that is what I got, thanks Amazon great service.
I have enjoyed the GPS more than I can say. So many reviews almost swayed me from buying the Navigon. Like any new gadget you have a learning curve. It has taken me time to get familiar with my GPS but don't all technology?
I registered my system with Navigon and right away told me to add the updates for it and that was no problem. The list of cell phones that it is compatible with is not up to date because mine (Nokia 6555) is not in the list but it is compatible. The touch screen works as it should and the live traffic extends farther than is says. All in all Amazon .com has never let me down with anything I have purchased and the GPS was a great purchase I have no regrets and the PRICE was the best. Having the Navigon for my trip put my daughter and me at ease
A GPS called Wanda June 15, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
So far so good - my wife wanted to call it something so Wanda is the name. So far she has done a decent job getting me from point A to point B. One thing is to register and upgrade it to the latest software once you get it - the upgrade came out in early May 2008. It has performed well and has all of the features I really need i.e. text to speech, 3D view (really nice), speed warnings, etc. Traffic data has been helpful as accidents occur and the like. I have used it in Tulsa, OK and in Harrisburg, PA and both times it has worked really well. I plan on taking it with me whenever I travel for work. The time to reach destination seems accurate overall however it doesnt update while you are parked at the rest area and will jump once you get going again. Not really a major issue just an FYI. Beyond that though it has been very accurate and easy to use.

navigon 7100 June 13, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I purchased the Navigon 7100 as a refurbished unit. I do not like the slow touch screen, that it did not come with a instruction manual-except on line, and sometimes gives wrong directions. The other day we were searching for the closest Cheveron station, and it brought us down a side road where ther were none at all. We also were searching for a Wendys restaurant and it also brought us to a residential neighborhood. Maybe someone named Wendy lived there. LOL 95% of the time it will take me to where I ask. Also you can not type in a address as it is given-you have to put in parts of it then see what it comes up with, sometimes it will not recognize the address that you are trying to put in at all. It only seems to come with one voice, and she miss pronounces the words frequently. The voice is very unnatural. The positive things about this unit are-The lane assist is great, and I use this feature all the time im Miami. The traffic update is another feature that I love. The Zaget rating system has come in handy for the restaurants, and I love all the info it gives. Graphics are nice and much better than Tom Tom or Garmin. I had a Garmin that I returned before I bought this one. I must admit they both have their pros and cons, but overall I would choose the Navigon. For me the positives outweigh the negatives. We have named her Ms Navigon. She is polite, and not as irritating as Ms Garmin if you miss a turn (even if she doesn't pronounce the words right). I am still learning her features, as I can't refer to a handy manual and have to go to the computer when I have a question. I could print the manual, but that is a lot of pages to print and they would be bulky to carry around. That is my biggest grip about the Navigon. I travel all over Fl for a living and it has saved me a lot of time and money in gas. It still has a lot of room for improvement though. Maybe the new unit they are coming out with will be better.
Very Disappointed June 12, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
My experience with a GPS is the Garman Ique-M5, so that set my expectations. The Navigon has traffic info, 3d images, and street names but the benefits end there. The Navigon gave really stupid directions and I tried all of the different settings. Setting it for "fastest route", it would take me off of a main road to go through a sub-division just to come back to the main road later, and that is only 1 example. Also, if the address does not exist, you cannot save your position. There is also no option to find a restaurant or gas station on-route; you can only ask if something is nearby, therefore if you search for a place nearby it may take you backwards from your route. It will also not allow you to put in permanent detours - say if a bridge is out, you cannot put it in there to not ever route that way. I was very disappointed, so I sold mine, and I am saving up for a Garmin unit. It will be about $100 more, but at least I will not get lost using it, and I will cuss less.
