5 out of 5 stars The BEST GPS for CAR Period!   September 24, 2003
I also just upgraded from the GPS V to the new 2610... Wow what a difference...

Some great features the last reviewer failed to mention is the addition of an address indicator as your drive or navigate... How many times do you go down a street not knowing if you are going the right way and can not find a street address!?

Also it comes with full USA unlock and beanbag and regular mount.

The last reviewer is right about the calculation speed.. I keep mine on BEST ROUTE and it STRILL calculates VERY fast.

Plus the tabs are fully customable so you can make them small or wide and adjust what is on them or take them off totally to just see the map oin the fly.

The redraw which has always been an issue is perfect...

The 128 MB compactflash card that comes with it is more than enough.. with a 256 you can get in several major cities.. 512 and you can get half the country... however it is easy to change them in and out on the fly.

Get the 2610... you will NOT be disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars Newest StreetPilot is easy to use   September 22, 2003

I have tried the StreetPilot III and recently the StreetPilot 2610 and the 2610 shines. Here are a few reasons why I like the 2610 off the top of my head...
* Routing is much faster than the III. (When I drift off route, the rerouting is nearly instantaneous.)
* Finding places is much easier (ability to type in the name using the touchscreen or the remote is a delight - no more scrolling through the letters).
* The remote control is a real nice addition
* On-screen display is better (you can see the map through the directions - nice)
* The screen automatically adjusts for ambient light
* The 2610 is smaller than the III, and the antenna is inside the unit (you can add an external antenna easily).
* Works off car 12V and 120V at home; takes Compact Flash so it's cheap to get more storage.
* Contains several languages already, so you can get your directions in German, for instance, if you want; or in US English or British English, for variety.
