5 out of 5 stars Excellent GPS, good features, reasonable price   March 10, 2006

I got this to manage the bovine-designed roads of boston. Mapquest has been relegated to the backseat if you will. The system is reliable and accurate with about every business you could want waypointed in so if you didnt know you'd want to stop off at Legal Seafood on the way home, you dont have to worry about not having the address. We travel for conferences a bit a deliberately picked this unit with the beanbag so we can take car to car. Great if youre renting in new towns. It sits well on the dash and hasn't flown off during stops or turns. Obviously in a bad accident, which we hope to avoid, there is a risk of an unfixated unit the weight of this system flying at you, so be warned. What's great is that it not only tells you how to get where youre going but it tells you seconds to turn. This is great in a city like boston, where you've got streets coming off at all angles and a left isn't neccessarily a 90 degree turn. A downside to this model is that in a tunnel or otherwise over signaled region, you can lose the satalite and with it, all the next steps in your drive that you can call up on the display until it gains feed again. Other models store the info so at least you can read where you need to go next. You have to download regions- it doesnt store the whole US in it, but this is hardly an issue unless you plan freqent cross country trips. Otheriwse your'er likely to remain well within its range of storage and you can just download a new region need be. Most annoying problem is its occasional tendency to apparently "see" you going off route, as evidenced by your wayward signal on the display, but its failure to correct you. More likely in cities and sometimes rebooting works. This isn't a big chore because you just press "recent find" and it recalcs in seconds without your having to re-enter everything. NEvertheless annoying when it happens. Dont have experinece with other units to know how this compares.

The product is excellant. So far have had no problems. Occasionally takes some time to search for satellite after a tunnel. O/w very good product. Would recommend purchasing 1GB card to download all maps.

I Bought the Garmin streetpilot 2610 and its little Annoying, I am in philadelphia and the sattlite signal will be lost for every 5 to 10 mins. and it takes around 4 mins at the initial start up. I will never want to depend on this GPS. It will take me to half a way and will lose the Sattilite connection and I will not know how to go and where to go and the only thing I can do it, wait somewhere and ask someone about the route or wait till I get Sattilet connection. I cannot give more then 2 stars and I will not suggest this device to anyone.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent GPS for the Automotive Market   March 5, 2006

Buy it, read the manual, install the USB at the PC, connect the GPS, install the maps, configure your preferences at the GPS, disconect from the PC, open your car, install it, turn it on, and go to that store or street you never know where it is, just as easy. Beleive me, i have been looking for that since years ago, and now, i NEVER take it off from the car.
