Does what it should do! May 9, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Good product. Updates now available for Mac users also online. I like this one, better battery life than some of the newer ones. No SD card slot.
The Best GPS Unit April 18, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This GPS is great. A color screen is a must and we have need no problems viewing the screening in direct sunlight. This unit is very durable too with a sporty look. The best part you can take it everywhere (hiking, biking, walking, running, even on trips). Money Well Spent!!!
Great for Geo Cashing February 17, 2007 A very accurate GPS and works everywhere, also a great tool for Geo Cashing
Just don't trust it on the road November 13, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Nice enough for the trail when you're on foot and not depending on it to tell you how to get somewhere. But it has turned me the wrong way on the road more times than not, one time it told me to turn right when the route it was displaying turned right.
Also its plug locations are just plain stupid. You may want to pop for a bracket if you do use it in the car.
Otherwise the software is quirky and the maps quite expensive.
Delivered the goods November 10, 2006 I purchased my first GPS unit and I am very satisfied. I read many reviews, and researched about a half a dozen candidates before I settled in on the GPSMAP CS. When I bought it, I knew that it was being replaced with a more expensive unit that had a removable SD chip, but I did not need that feature, as the unit had 56 MB on internal memory, plenty for my needs. I bought the unit basically for Geocaching, and it has performed as expected and I would recommend it, or it's new, more expensive upgrade, to anyone who wants a unit that is relatively easy to use. The car mount is a little tricky, but it also performs well, once mastered. You have to attach the external power cord, if you are conserving batteries, before you put the unit in the car mount. Sort of clunky, but not so much as to be a problem.
