5 out of 5 stars Navigon 5100   October 15, 2008

You will not find a better GPS for the price... trust me I tried. The Reality View is a priceless option when you are in congested areas that give you little time to react and/or try to figure out exactly what exit to take. The FREE traffic updates also worked very nice on my last trip to Long Island. I've also used the Zaget survey feature to locate restaurants... again it worked very well. Accuracy on local roads as well as long distance trips have proven to be very accurate.

There are some problems with this GPS; the two biggest ones are the lack Home Depot, Lowes & other "Big Box" stores... there is every restaurant, gas station & parking places you could ever ask for. I hope they update the POI's & for this reason I wasn't too worried that some were missing. I would also like to see a higher peak volume for noisy vehicles. These two shortcomings are overshadowed by the countless other features. I would recommend this GPS to anyone. BTW I have used other brands (Garmin being my other top rated) but if you compare features you will find that you need to pay al least twice as much!

4 out of 5 stars Great GPS but boot time is too long.   October 13, 2008
This is my 3rd gps and this gps has many great feature that I enjoy over my old gps systems. But this gps runs off windows mobile 6.0CE and it takes forever to start. You have to hold the power button for more than 10 seconds to get it to show start up... but once the system is up and running it works like a charm. I live in a big city and the auto free traffic updates are a blessing. I don't know how many times it has saved me from running into construction and traffic delays. It route fast and is very accurate on distance and speed. If I could just take the things that I like from all 3 gps systmes and add them to this one it would be perfect. Untill then I will enjoy this gps to it's fullest.

I like everything about this GPS. Ease of use, nice car mount, great features... but it takes almost like forever to boot it up and search for satellite signal. This also happens when you drive into a building and lose satellite connectivity (such as when you enter a parking building).

BUT WAIT. There's an undocumented solution (well, i don't know if it's undocumented because I never bothered to read the PDF manual). Instead of turning off your Navigon, you simply give the power button one quick tap. This shuts down the display and puts it in STANDBY mode (i think it gives the unit enough power so it does not have to boot up like it does when you first turn it ON). [Doesn't help big if you're like me an I park in a building when I come home everyday but at least it's still faster].

So I'd rate this unit high- great value for the price. :)

4 out of 5 stars Navigon 3.5 in. Portable GPS   October 12, 2008
This GPS has great 3-d visuals. The visuals are especially noteworthy when you approach exit ramps or need to be in a specific lane on a 5+ lane highway. The 3-d function almost looks like a live video picture of what's ahead. Programming for long trips has been improved but, Navigon still needs to do some tweaking in that area. However, it programs as easily as most of the other GPS devices out there. It is more pricey but, the 5100 comes with lifetime real time traffic alerts.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Navigation System   October 9, 2008
I am fully satisfied with the product.
Very nice I could not have ask any better than this one.
I had problem using it the first time(Touch Screen) but after collaboration and setting the basics it works like a champ!
