Very happy with this item March 11, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a lifesaver for me. I travel all over New England with my sons for hockey and the $$ I'll save on ink and paper alone (Mapquest) will be worth it. :)
I love the text to speech option that says street names and how it recalculates my route if I go a different way.
My only issue would be that it has taken me down back roads (in the snow), long, windy roads, when I would rather have been on the highway a little longer if it meant staying on main roads. I'm not sure if I could remedy that myself using the GPS. Maybe there is an option. I know that it took me the quickest way but I didn't feel it was the "best" way.
Great Product March 11, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This was the first time that I had purchased anything from Amizon.com. I must say I was very impressed with the whole process.
The Garmin nüvi 260 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator is exactly what I hoped it would be and the price was what I wanted to pay. It has found us motels when travelling, shops when shopping, and I have even used it for garage sales.
The shipping and tracking information was right on. Great product. Great way to shop.
Nuvi 260, the best bang for the buck! March 10, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I had a nuvi 200 and I must say that it was great. It did everything that it said it would. After reading many reviews I realized that many users were upset that the 200 did not say the Street names or it did not come with an ac charger or a case, even a usb cord. If you read the description that Amazon gives, it tells you what you get. If it did not state ac charger, usb cord, etc. you do not get them. I knew what I had ordered and thought that I had made the right choice. After using it for 2 weeks I knew why the 260 was more money than the 200. The text to speech is well worth the extra money. With the 200 I found that I was always looking at the screen to see the street names. Not a good idea while driving. So, I bought a 260 from Amazon just for the street names(you do get extra maps with it). I am so happy that I did. I now drive with my 260 face down, speaker up on my console. You have no need to look at the screen while you are driving. Also, when leaving your car you can just slip it into you pocket and leave no tell-tail marks on your windshield. The 200, I returned to B--t B-y no questions asked. By the way, I bought an ac charger from Amazon. It will make charging it very easy.
Can't Travel without it March 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is great - the first GPS we have ever had (62 years old). No more looking at maps! It names the streets, which is nice, and if you get off course it recalculates a new one for you. One of the most useful things we have ever purchased. We are in Florida for a couple months and have had no problem finding our way around.
GARMIN 260 GPS March 7, 2008 a NICE UNIT IF YOU GET IT FOR UNDER 250.00. Nice bright screen. Should come with a case & ac charger. Battery life seems to be about 3 hrs, depending on briteness & volume level. Worst function is the tinny sounding speaker & it can take 2-3 mins to get sattelite sometimes. Routing is typical Garmin logical most of the time. Good poi's but they all seem to leave out poi's that you just assume would be in there.
