5 out of 5 stars Garmin Nuvi 350   April 28, 2007

It's the best!!!! Easy to use; gets us where we want to go; provides much other info such as restaurants, motels, etc. when traveling.
Best of all, my husband and I did not have any navigation arguments during our last three week driving trip!

5 out of 5 stars Better than a Bloodhound!!!   April 27, 2007

Down South the Bloodhound is a dog that'll pick up a scent and find it's target come hell or high water. The Nuvi 350 is the electronic Bloodhound! I just moved to Atlanta and felt very intimidated navigating a big city. I researched many GPS products and decided on the Garmin Nuvi 350 based upon the positive feedback from users. The Garmin Nuvi 350 removed any fear of navigating city streets or the surrounding rural areas. I was able to easily find the services needed to establish residency (setting up new bank accounts, license tags, place to worship, job interview locations, etc)using the pre-loaded locations that came with the unit. Sure beats wrestling a map while trying to drive! It's pocket sized so I could carrying it while I was navigating streets on foot. Ever forget where you parked your car? I have. Now I set the coordinates of where I parked in the Garmin Nuvi 350 and it's as easy as following the arrow on screen to reunite with your car. The menu driven selections are a no-brainer.Very easy to use. The buttons are big enough on the touch screen so that you can easily navigate the menu items. Entering new locations was easy as typing it in and touching the screen. The unit came with a leather carrying case, car charger, mounting hardware for windshield mounting, everything you would need to get you up and going. The SD memory card slot allows uploading of pictures, music or audiobooks to play through the unit. I'm very pleased with my Garmin Nuvi 350.Now when I hit the streets I feel confident because I know if I get lost my Garmin Nuvi 350 will get me home.

4 out of 5 stars What else can you ask for?   April 24, 2007

This is my first GPS. Bought it as a present for my dad. But I tested it for about a week because I had to teach my dad how to use it (he's not very good with electronics). Very user friendly. I don't really have any gripes except for three things:

1. I wish it had a volume wheel. Having to go through the menu and using the touchscreen is bothersome.

2. Points of interests (gas stations, restaurants, etc.) are only visible when the map is zoomed-in quite a bit. So much that you can only see a few hundred feet of road.

3. Many neighborhoods and towns that are geographically located in major cities are not denoted by the city's name, even though the town is an integral segment of the city. Instead, you have to search by the neighborhood or town's name as denoted by the post office location. For example, if you live in New York City, you can't enter "New York" as the city and start searching for an address in Brooklyn or Queens. You have to enter "Brooklyn" or the very specific postal name in Queens: e.g. "Astoria" or "Whitestone."

The navigation is pretty accurate and the directions are okay. I really have nothing to compare it to since I never owned a GPS.

[UPDATE]

I haven't been able to find a way to search via zipcode. Anyone know how? It'll solve the problem of using the correct name of the postal town/village.
