5 out of 5 stars You would not regret   January 15, 2007

Pro: Size - you can use it while walking in search of nearest Starbucks, convenience - navigating while driving is not recommended, but if you need, you can with minimal distraction, accuracy. It is actually more convenient than built-in GPS - in sunny day you can always select some angle when it would not have a glare. Plus it can play MP3 and audio books, which is nice on long lonely trips, and hold your pictures. The memory can be extended by inserting SD card. Upgrade of the software is super simple, but you need a computer connected to the Internet with UPS slot.
Cons: Maps in some area are not accurate. Do not try to find railroad station in White Planes, NY - it is on the other side of Hamilton Ave.
Accuracy is not sufficient to recognize if you on the main or service road, so Nuvi may advice you to do prohibited turn, but it would be probably a problem for any GPS. Loading stuff on SD card is slow, you'd better use some other device and only then insert it to Nuvi.
Conclusion - recommended.

1 out of 5 stars Returned for Replacement   January 15, 2007

Initially, I was very pleased with the results of the Garmin NUVI 350. However, after 6 weeks of use, the unit stopped working. I was in conract with Garmin on 3 different ocassions trying to resolve the issue via tech support and the internet, but with no success. Garmin agreed to replace the unit with a new one and even paid the shipping costs for the broken unit. Garmin's customer service is outstanding! I would recommend them to anyone.

4 out of 5 stars garmin 350...could be quicker to respond   January 15, 2007
Quite often it takes a long time to acquire the satelite.I've noticed it has tried to take me to the same place in different directions from the same starting point. While actively using this in downtown traffic going to and from work the charge on the battery lasts approx 1 and 1/2 days and the car charger is already broken. However when it is working it has helped me in a few jams. I've recommended it to friends!!

4 out of 5 stars Great but not perfect   January 14, 2007

The NUVI is a great unit; no rocket science requirement to get it working out of the box. I live in a rural area of Arizona and several times NUVI has told me to turn on dirt roads that don't exist and it doesn't have roads in memory that have been in existence for the past three years. Going into major cities, it works great; it takes you exactly where you want to go. I'd buy it again in a minute.

4 out of 5 stars This thing is awesome   January 14, 2007

I was nervous about buying something so expensive, but after reading all the good reviews, I went for it. I'm glad I did. It's gotten me through a bunch of tough navigation scenarios, i.e. I brought it with me to a wedding in the mountains of Virginia. It was late at night, in a rental car, couldn't see a thing through the fog, had never been in that part of the world before, trying to find this random cabin in the woods. It brought me right there. It's also taken me straight to the nearest gas station just in time.

It's also really easy to use. I like the pretty graphics.

My only thing is that I really don't need all the bells and whistles- I have an ipod that sounds much better, and don't need anything translated. But I wanted it to be small, which is why I didn't go for a simpler model.

Anyways, if you're on the fence, I'd go for it. Think of it as an investment in your safety.
