4 out of 5 stars Garmin Street Pilot 530c- Glad I bought this unit!   February 14, 2007

I purchased the Garmin Street Pilot 530c and have owned it about 6 weeks now. I love this unit and after much homework on which unit to buy, I found Garmin was rated highest in satisfaction, support, and cost. I think the screen size is just right, even though slightly larger screens are available from others, it definitely affects the battery life to go larger though. The screen is super bright in sun, and automatically dims for night driving. It is a TFT screen which is the brightest in it's class (don't buy an STN style, as you will have brightness issues on sunny days).
I do need to consider updating my maps from the Garmin website, as a few "very new roads or gas stations, resturaunts, etc. are not listed.
This thing I must say is so accurate, I have found places that I have never been to, and it takes you right to the driveway. I truly think this is so easy to use, even my wife can do it by herself. I like the fact that it's portable to take from car to car or to a rental car, etc. I truly will never need another mapquest map ever again, and save more ink cartridges. I love being able to be in the middle of a strange place, and find gas, banks, resturaunts, entertainment, attractions, etc. (too cool)

This is the best unit I have seen compared to other friends I have that bought other Manufacturers units. I also found the best deal on Amazon at $399, no shipping or tax either! Best $399 I ever spent, and as a traveling salesperson, this has already proven to be an extreemly valuble tool, and I recomend it to friends and family.

I like this product, it is wasy to use and very easy to understand how to use it. I am disappointed in the availability of map updates though and it would seem that Tom Tom may have access that US companies don't seem to have so do the research before the purchase.

5 out of 5 stars Easy Unit To Use   January 30, 2007

Unit worked right out of the box. Manual is not needed much. I downloaded a new vehicle icon from Garmins web site, and the unit lost the file that lets it find the map. Contacted Garmin, and one of the software techs sent a file to my C530 via my computer and it now works. In a way, i'm glad it happened to me, because I now understand how to fix it if it looses this file.

I tried a C330, and it was nice, but with the C530 you can enter a telephone number in your saved sites, etc. It has a brighter screen, and the audio seems to be a little bit louder.

Now sure why the case has the cut out for the mount in the rear unless your going to use it on battery power only.

This is so easy to use. I find myself looking up address in the house, etc. By the way, the receiver is very good (keeps a signal while in my home, and it acquires a signal in approx. 10 seconds).
