Very Disappointed June 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My experience with a GPS is the Garman Ique-M5, so that set my expectations. The Navigon has traffic info, 3d images, and street names but the benefits end there. The Navigon gave really stupid directions and I tried all of the different settings. Setting it for "fastest route", it would take me off of a main road to go through a sub-division just to come back to the main road later, and that is only 1 example. Also, if the address does not exist, you cannot save your position. There is also no option to find a restaurant or gas station on-route; you can only ask if something is nearby, therefore if you search for a place nearby it may take you backwards from your route. It will also not allow you to put in permanent detours - say if a bridge is out, you cannot put it in there to not ever route that way. I was very disappointed, so I sold mine, and I am saving up for a Garmin unit. It will be about $100 more, but at least I will not get lost using it, and I will cuss less.
It Works as Advertised June 8, 2008 The Navigon 7100 works just as it was advertised to work. At least it has so far. It's done a good job of getting me where I need to go and the display is very good. The only complaint I would have is about the speaker. It is hard to hear the spoken directions when there is any wind or other exterior noise. Since I drive a convertible this has been a problem. I do have to watch the screen display. It connects to my phone just fine but again, the speaker is so weak that you can't hear the person you're talking to. I didn't buy it to use as an accessory to my phone though so that's not really a consideration.
Love this GPS! May 31, 2008 So easy to use and set up. Love the mount which affixes to the windshield. Haven't benefitted from traffic feature yet. Plenty of POI's. Glad i got the widescreen as you have to be quite precise when typing in letters and #'s. Volume is great-- i can hear unit perfectly and i have the radio turned up quite loud. Would highly recommend this to anyone especially with lifetime free traffic.
GREAT ITEM!!! Worth the $$ and better than most others May 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great features. Initial reaction was not good. Then i tried the garmin and Ipaq 310 and realized how great the navigon was!. YES , its a little harder to use then garmin or tomtom, but once you learn it, its great! Pros: The text to speech is amazingly accurate. traffic works great! free map udates, version 1.2 out on their website reality view helps(initiall i thought it was silly and pointeless, but i have yet to miss a turn like i did with garmin or ipaq). ITS really hard to miss an exit or turn with this device( love it) exit signs, warning signs, visual all perfect
cons: Not to happy with POI, things like walmart, target are hard to find no auto shut off no auto day/night mode The stand/holder looks great in the car and takes time to use, plus mine spoilt in 3mts , bt warranty covered replacement a little slow when checking turn by turn
Bluetooth is okay, OVERALL a great product for its features!
not too bad May 29, 2008 overall this product is great the pros: great options like lane assistant and virtual view hands free works great. cons directions are'nt always the best or fastest route, although it uses windows mobile it does not copy your phone contacts. traffic advisor doesnt work either for some reason it cant get a solid or strong enough signal to report but im working with customer service to fix that. but in the end if i compared it to the garmin i think the map view on the navigon takes the cake.
