TomTom Go 510 May 23, 2007 3 out of 8 found this review helpful
The item didn't work yesterday that i only use for a couple of weeks. it totally couldn't turn on . i just want to know how i can send back to for repair.
Concern about the negative reviews May 18, 2007 I own 3 GPS, one garmin, one tomtom 910 and since yesterday a 510. I use the garmin on the trail and the jeep, and my 910 has been with me for a couple of month cruising Europe and North America. I bought the 510, because it was cheap and also based on my experience with the 910. My wife wanted a GPS in her car so I ordered it, in 5 min at work... Then, a couple of days later, while waiting for the item, I started reading the reviews and was stun by some of the negatives comment; 2 possibilities, either I bought a lemon, or some people have NO IDEA of what they are buying or how to operate a basic electronic device (Like having the 12.00 flashing on their VCR).....
After owning the 510 for 10 days, I now believe that some people should stick to paper map!
PROS: Setup: 20 min, including downloading the updates, and setting up the bracket on the windshield of my wife car. Navigating the menu is a breeze. Reliability: perfect. Not one Reboot....The 510 will even navigate through some forest trail in the mountains. POI: Plentiful enough... Bluetooth: synch it with my blackberry pearl THE FIRST TIME!!!
CONS: None so far....
Love it! May 17, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I don't have much time to answer this...but I love this GPS. I bought it when my wife and I were house-hunting. She's a horible navigator, and I'm not a very patient person. So, I bought this in hopes of ending the arguments over missed turns. I honestly believe this unit has saved our marriage. I've lived in this area for over 10 years and it's found faster, more convenient ways to get places I hadn't thought of before. So, it's also saving me gas, which is extremely important now that it's costing me almost $60 to fill up!. Also, there's a ton of FREE addon's available for this model through various websites. So, I say again, I love this GPS!!!!
Not enough Points of Interest May 16, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
My first GPS was a Garmin V that I bought 5 years ago. This was my comparison point. I bought the TomTom instead of Garmin C340 because it has a bigger screen and support different audio languages, but I decided to return the equipment after a week of use and claimed a refund. My old Garmin has a lot more information than this TomTom. I verified this GPS has the last US map and download an update of shopping centers but was not enough. I was using this equipment in a trip during a week in Orlando. It has no information about JCPenney stores neither other shops in the same class. When I was driving to a Wal-mart 24hrs recommended by the equipment I found another in the route that was not show in the GPS. When I was looking for an USPS office in 30 miles around Kissimmee it only show me just one 23 miles from my current location but when I did the search in Internet using my laptop it show me an office just a block of distance. Another thing I don't like was the power cord always unplug frequently from the cradle that is connected to the laptop. A morning when I was using the GPS directly from the laptop, I suddenly disconnect it from the cradle and was freeze during 5 hours until the batteries were discharged. I loved the touch screen, the colors, night vision, satellite sensitivity, the 3d maps and it works excellent when you supply an exact destination address to the equipment. I still thinking the Garmin must be the best option.

The Tom-Tom 510 has 2 mounts. Neither of them would function as designed. I returned it for a refund.
