Did not work when received. December 1, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased this for my wife for Christmas. Upon opening the box and following instructions for charging the battery I found that the battery was defective and would not hold a charge. I did a lot of research for a gps and liked the reviews about the C3 and would buy it again. My mistake was to order a refurbished unit. They aren't worth it. Buy a new one. I had to pay to have the unit shipped back which means I'm paying more than advertised and I've lost money.
Great for the price November 27, 2007 The Nextar C3 works as good as I expected for the price I paid ($149). I will recommend it. I had it for 3 months got to move from Tennessee to upstate New York. The directions were right all the way up and I been using it to get around in my new state and no problems so far.
PROS: -Price -Size -It acquires satellites faster than my Garmin. -Usually gets me within 10-20 feet of my destination, if the destination is in the map. -More stuff than you need like a remote control and mp3 player.
CONS: -***The maps seem to be about 2 years old. I was living in a 2 year old development and the Nextar C3 kept telling me I was off road. -The lighter power cable is to stiff; I wish it had a straight cable instead of a phone cord looking one. It pulls on the device and I'm afraid it might break the plug in. So I only use it to recharge The charge lasts for about 6 hours of continuous use.
nextar c3 car gps November 21, 2007 seems to have a couple of features that some other low cost gps units don't have ie;remote control, recreational locations by state ( golf courses) etc. only drawback is it will not let you choose you own route---if it is not quickest, shortest, local , major you have to use interim destination points to get through the route you want.
worked 4 times then went haywire November 16, 2007 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Worked great for about 4 trips then went nutty and broke. Just after the 30 day return window of course. Just buy a garmin or tomtom.
Good user interface but shows incorrect directions half the time November 5, 2007 This review is based on one month of usage in Los Angeles , Las Vegas & Atlanta.
PROS: * Cheap! * Good user interface * Lots of feature
CONS * Bad directions: Couple of times it told me to take left, when i m supposed to take right & vice versa. Once I took different route and it showed me my home at middle of street. If you force it recalculate directions at point of confusion, it will show you the right directions. On an average it has shown me bad direction 40% of time. * Also it does not allow you to enter direction using zip code. I am not sure if other gps allows this, but i will love to have this feature. * Quickest direction is not really the quickest. * Defective car charger : It does not go in or come out easily from socket. Other user also face this problem. If you plan to own this, please buy your car charger from different source.
Overall I am not satisfied and planning to return this. I will spend $20-30 more and get something which shows me right direction 90% of time.
