2 out of 5 stars Not Happy   October 22, 2007

Bought this GPS in good faith after much research. The goose neck dashmount arrived broken on 9-12-07 or so and since then I've been trying to obtain a new one under warranty. Electronica told me to send the entire package back and they would in turn send me a new one. They said to save time I should contact Nextar and utilize the warranty. I did. The first person I spoke to in regards to this matter at Nextar Support asked me what did we do to break it! I told him it arrived that way. It has been 3 phone calls, 2 e mails and a bunch of waiting since and still no new dash mount. It's over a month now. I may just buy one new online and tell those you know whats where to go. They even admitted during the last phone call the dash mounts are ineffective and they have a lot of "back log requests" for replacements. Thanks. Also went to use the unit last night and it was overcast. Could not get a signal, was very slow to respond and we were thankful for printed directions just the same. Product and Co. suck, remember, you get what you pay for and I thought I did my research, took me over a month to decide to purchase this unit. There are many models out there, keep looking.

3 out of 5 stars Good product, poor service   October 17, 2007

I really liked the GPS unit, however the car power cord was defective. I requested a new one from Nextar and they agreed to send one out. After 2 weeks, I called only to learn that they are having difficulty with the company that handles the power cords and Nextar doesnt know when they will receive another supply. Therefore, I have no car charger. I requested to return the GPS and get a new one, but was refused. I am stuck with a GPS unit that has no charger for the car. Poor customer service!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Very good product   October 15, 2007
After using this GPS for a recent trip out west I am glad I purchased it. For me the Nextar GPS paid for itself. When it came time to find a hotel for the night all I did was look under the hotel listings and call to find out what their prices were. If I didn't have the gps I would have never found 3/4 of the hotels listed. It is so easy use that my wife figured it out without reading the instruction manual. Very glad we bought it. It is worth every penny!

4 out of 5 stars A few Problems but overall good   October 13, 2007
After reading glowing reviews about it, I ordered the GPS through Amazon for a trip. I had the same "loading" issue another reviewer had. I also called Nextar on a late Friday nite (koodos for Nextar). The rep confirmed it was a faulty unit and I should return it to Amazon. He said the problem happens with about 4 out of every 1000. Guess I was one of the "lucky" ones. I had issues with Amazon about getting a replacement in time for my trip and after complaining that one wouldn't ship out until another five days from my replacement request, I actually had another Amazon rep send one to me under two day shipment. Got it a day before my trip. In general, I like the finger controlled touch screen. My old Garmin I had to use the stylus and that is a pain while driving. This one is much easier to use. My only complaint really is that the POIs don't show up on the screen all that readily-- probably because there aren't that many to begin with. To find a gas station on my trip, I had to go into shortcuts and pull up the list of gas stations and navigate from there. They don't just show up on the map screen, letting you navigate to the most convenient one. It also sent me on some strange routes to my destination at times when I knew there were shorter or faster ways to get there. Other than those issues, it is generally good for the price. Four stars obviously are for the nonfunctional one I received and the hassles I went through to get a replacement.

5 out of 5 stars AMAZING VALUE. Excelent GPS unit. with Navteq   October 12, 2007
I've onwned this unit for a while now and amazes me how well it works. It even has options that my $500.00 Garmin 2720 does not have. It is so easy to use there is no need to read the instructions. Will pickup a good satellite signal inside my house! Some of my favorite features is the ability to select a route and then from a list of roads I can select roads to avoid. Then it recalculates accordingly. You can easily customize how it calculate routes with many options. Too many things for me to mention. It has NAVTEQ maps! Buy one, you will be very happy.
