4 out of 5 stars Harmony 1000   July 29, 2008

I held off reviewing the Harmony 1000 until I was satisfied I made all my needed adjustments for my equipment. I read all kinds of reviews about the Harmony 1000 and held off for the right price then I figured I was satisfied with the price. Now I had to determine if the mix of reviews were correct. The remote was shipped in a timely manner, so thanks Amazon. I installed the software on my computer (I had to create an account with Logitech)then I started the configuration. Once I copied all the SN's from each component it was a breeze to set up and the picture slide show is cool. However the only bug I usually see is when I select watch TV, PC, DVD, or video game it sometimes does not switch the television to the correct source. Other than that minor bug it is a great way to get rid of all those remotes and save on batteries.

I just purchased the Logitech Harmony 1000 Advanced Universal Remote. I found the instructions to be very simple and clear. Once the remote is linked to your computer the step-by-step procedure for set-up is very easy, making the most complicated systems work. I would recommend this product for anyone who has a multi=station set-up.

This was the 2nd Harmony 1000 I purchased, both units are easy to use and program, customer support is excellent. My first unit, purchased May 2007, would lockup after being left on the charge over night(or Less)and you would have to remove the Battery and reinstall it, the unit then reboots. I contact customer support and they new of the problem (firmware) and would have a fix in Early 08. Before buying my second unit I contact Harmony and they assured me that the lockup problem was fixed. The second unit seem to be ok but after about a week the second unit locked up and I contacted customer support(CS) and they made a change in the firmware. That seems to have solved the problem, however the unit sometimes does not turn on my sat TV unit - CS thinks it a memory problem and is send me a new unit for free. Operationally the unit is excellent and easy to use.

4 out of 5 stars Finally got rid of my 1/2 dozen remotes   July 23, 2008

I thought the 1000's shape would be the biggest negative to get over. Instead it's really comfortable and slick looking to boot. The programming went easily (once I figured out not to have the remote and the IR extender plugged into the computer at the same time during updates). Cons: Not having the program residing on the PC and having to update the IR extender every time you update the remote. Two problems that I can overlook when weighing the ease of use. The wife and kids are no longer dependents to the keeper of the six remotes.
