Works Great October 12, 2008 I got this to go with my External HD, and I couldn't be happier. Transfer speed is incredible now, full length DVDs in only a couple minutes. Essential for any laptop that didn't come with a firewire port.
Knocked out my built in FireWire 400 port August 30, 2008 My Dell XPS M1330 laptop has a built-in FireWire 400 port. I bought the SIIG card to connect a FireWire 800 device. When I installed the SIIG card, it made my built-in FireWire 400 port unrecognizable. I still haven't figure out how to get it back.
Worked 1st plug-in with Vista 64 August 14, 2008 My first personal laptop, first expresscard experience, first firewire experience. Bottom line -- worked great!. I actually purchased the single plugin 800 (size 34) but it's still the same. I plugged it in my new Gateway laptop running vista 64bit and it worked perfectly - no problems. I haven't upgraded the driver to 800 yet (default driver is set at 400, I think), but it works just fine. I just wanted something that would/could be faster should I start doing a lot more at later time. I emailed SIIG's customer service before I bought to ensure it was compatable - they answered all my questions - would buy again.
Firewire 800 Expresscard June 11, 2008 Worked as expected - created 1394 ports on a Dell 1405 that had an Espress Card slot but no Firewire Ports. There are a couple sizes of Expresscards so make sure you're getting an appropriate adapter. (There are also several flavors of Firewire connections, 2 different types on this card.) So look closely at the details.
Slowly product July 29, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
hi everybody, i have an firewire audio card. when i'm going to used the expresscard the rate transfer was very slowly, so the expresscard wasn't enough to supply my audio card. i'm not recommended this product if you're finding a fast express card...be careful, don't trust in this product...!
