5 out of 5 stars Superb connectors for amplifier speaker connections   January 19, 2007

These connectors are a SUPERB solution. The wire (whether thin gauge "zip wire" or thick Monster Cable wire) is splayed out in this connector and locked in securely via a screw in fastener. The banana tip then feeds into the amp's banana socket with a minimum of fuss and ensures a low-impedance connection. The plugs themselves are very rugged and make a solid, reliable contact. You shouldn't ever have to mess with them again.

If you have a 6.1 system, you need three packs of these for the amp-side connection. Placed on high quality speaker wire, these connectors are a permanent solution. But don't worry, if you upgrade your speaker wire later, these connectors come off in a jiffy. Worth the price!

4 out of 5 stars Consider whether you only need to attach one piece of wire to each connector.   January 11, 2007

I am not necessarily an audiophile, but I am familiar with the practice of bi-wiring or tri-wiring speakers. This is possible on any speaker that has more than one set of wire terminals. Commonly, the different terminals are bridged with a metal jumper that allows only one wire to run from the speaker to the receiver. However, you can run a piece of wire for each set of terminals, and combine them at the receiver end to make one connection.

Some speakers have a set of terminals for each range (i.e. high, mid, low), although it is most common to only have two (they combine the high and mid ranges into one).
Anyway, this theoretically provides a richer sound since each range is traveling down its own wire.

Monster QuickLock connectors do not allow more than one piece of 14-gauge wire to be inserted. So, they are not a good choice at the receiver end for those wishing to bi-wire or tri-wire their speakers.

However, outside of bi-wiring, these connectors are great. They have a really solid feel, and are simple to use. The connector's top section screws away from the bottom. This allows the speaker wire to push up into the middle where the stranded wire is then fanned out over a serrated cylinder. When the top section is screwed back on, it essentially tightens a piece of metal over the cylinder and locks the wires in place.

I purchased the QuickLock Banana Connectors for my home theater system. Previously I had directly connected the wire to the back of the receiver, a half day job. When I had to remove the receiver for repair I was positive that I did not want to do that again. I shopped for banana plugs and decided on the Monster Quicklock system based on a recommendation from SoundTrack, the connection method, connector quality and ease of installation. The price on Amazon was 1/3 less than all the sources I checked in Denver. Delivery was quick and so was the installation. Now it is a piece of cake to connect the receiver to the system.

5 out of 5 stars The only solution   January 3, 2007
Solid connectors, easily installed. I have fought with all sorts of speaker cable connections over the years. The rather high price for these had kept me from trying them until recently. They are worth every cent of the high price. Intalling a surround sound system involves so many connections that banana plugs are almost a necessity, but none but these meet the requirements for solid, trouble-free contacts.

These little guys are great! They just screw on..no crimping is required! I originally installed them to get my system working. Once everything was good, I took them off to remove the extra wire I had installed "just in case". It literally takes two minutes to install these.
