Works great. No need to purchase a more expensive firewire. I pulled it out of the box, plugged it in, and got straight to work. There's some equipment in life you can compromise and be cheap, this is one of them.

Was not compatible with iMac. Too expensive to return for an exchange, so was of no use.

This firewire ia junk. My computer wouldn't recognize my camcorder, and I had to spring for a $30 wire from an office supply store. Don't bother!
Great for the price June 20, 2008
Product works fine with my Canon Mini-DV camcorder (1Mpxl). The average transfer rate is less than 10MBps for the camcorder, so the speed is not a factor for me. I am not sure how it operates at 400Mbps, but if you need to transfer files from a regular camcorder, do not pay any more. I agree, no one can beat this price.
