1 out of 5 stars Blatant Rip-OFF!   September 26, 2008

How is this company still in business? These cables are overpriced by 20000%! With digital signals, it's all or nothing. You cannot get lower quality video/audio if the cable isn't good enough like you do with analog signals. With digital signals, if the quality isn't good you just won't get a signal. Do not buy this product. Any $10 certified cable will work.

1 out of 5 stars Plus their customer service is horrible   September 25, 2008

I wanted to find out whether this cable supports HDMI 1.3 - a very simple question, just yes or no. I called 4 times just to find that everybody in customer service is in training and nobody can answer my question. Great way to run a company! I am returning my $130 cable.

2 out of 5 stars Great cable, but same quality as monoprice $5 cable   September 25, 2008

I couldn't believe the reviews so I had to see it for myself. The result: the Monster cable is pure hype.

I have a Philips 42" 1080P TV hooked up to a blu-ray dvd player. I bought this Monster cable and a $5 10' HDMI 1.3a cable from monoprice.com. I played x-men last stand and superman returns on blu-ray, as well as the matrix on a regular DVD.

For about an hour I switched between the two cables. I couldn't tell the difference between the resolution, noise, color, contrast or black levels. Over a 10' distance, there's simply no difference between this $100 cable and a $5 cable. I even tried to push the limits of the cable but having it carry both the surround sound signal and the video to my receiver...nothing.

Please, please, please...spend the extra $100 on a better TV, perhaps 120hz over 60hz. This cable will not make miracles happen, as Monster will promise you over and over. Future proofing? You're kidding yourself. Good cable construction? Everyone else has good cables as well. Gold plated, nitrogen-injected dielectric with 5 layers of shielding? Great, hope you have a fun time watching your spectrum analyzer in a lab. This all means nothing for good ol 1080P blu-ray movies!

1 out of 5 stars Rip Off   September 24, 2008

Im not gonna lie and say i did a side by side test because i havent. I read on [...] about HDMI and how the cables are the same. They use the cheap [...]cables sold here on amazon and monster is ripping people off. Be smart and save money.

1 out of 5 stars sad, worst way to spend $$   September 20, 2008

Did a test myself and found absolutely no difference between the monster and another cheap cable in sound or picture.

Just think about it: do professional photographers and film makers use $100 USB cables to transfer their visual, audio files? Of course not!

I even looked online for results of other blind tests (blind because the subject does not know which cable is been used) on difference between expansive vs. cheap HDMI cable showed no record of a single person able to tell the difference. Unfortunately not every consumer has the time to prove it to themselves that the monster will perform the same as a $6 one.
Best buy sales clerks fits the definition of liars as they shamelessly tells people they see (imaginary) improvements, but they would never (I'd bet on it) survive a blind test.
All the vague ads, inflated cost, imaginary benefits, what a sad, bad digital cable market...
