2 out of 5 stars Hardly Chargable   February 3, 2006
I must note the poor choice of words on the side of the new iTrip package. "Mini USB port allows for charging," or something along those lines. Currently there is no existing cord that has Mini USB at one end and either a car charger or electrical plug at the other end. There is also no such thing as a firewire to Mini USB cord so you could use the ipod accompanying chargers. You can buy a $22 cord that allows you to hook the iTrip up to your computer. Why would I want an FM transmitter to do that? "Trip" means to travel -go somewhere and transmit it away from my computer that already has speakers and all of my songs in iTunes. It's misleading to say this product charges while using iTrip and in the same breath say you can take it in the car with you and so on. They should have made the same type of transmitter in the top mounting style- (because the vast, vast majority still owns G4 and younger iPods). And then also made a bottom loading one with a firewire port for charging for the newer generations. At least make a mini USB support cord for car and wall charging. It's pointless for charging on the go. Don't fall for it. At least they finally found a way to remove the iTunes stations from the playlists. Too bad I can't charge my iPod with it or this would have been perfect.

1 out of 5 stars Works great if you tape your iPOD to the antenna   January 26, 2006

I bought this at Best Buy for ~$50 for an iPOD Video expecting the same performance I got out of the iTrip that plugs into the headset jack. I tested it in the house on the home stereo. It worked great while the transmitter was <1 foot away from the FM antenna. At 2 feet there was noticeable static. Anything over 4 feet away was ALL static. When I returned it to the store the salesman said they had only been selling them for a week and had already gotten almost all of them back on returns for the same problem.

Summary: Terrible product!

4 out of 5 stars Great Product/sound quality - not bad   January 26, 2006

I bought this at Best Buy for about fifty bucks. Works great. Sound quality is clear, but you do have to turn the volume up a fair amount. Other than turning up the volume more than usual I can't complain. When you turn the volume up it doesn't affect the sound too much. It's by no means something you, or your friends would notice right away...so, it's definitely not bad. You could buy this one or get the "car audio kit" that costs more. But, for me this works fine. I just need to find a cheap car charger now. It's really not as bad as the other people are complaining. This is actually the newer generation that does fit all ipods.

1 out of 5 stars Poor Choice   January 24, 2006

Very disappointing product. Produces very poor quality music transmission even when placed in contract with the radio.

1 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY   January 23, 2006

Do not buy this product. The sound quality is mono- and full of static, even with the Nano turned all the way up. I tried it on my home stereo, and then in my car. I could hear the music, but I didn't even want to - it made great music sound awful. Great concept, but this product isn't ready for commercial use yet.
