I picked up a couple of these chargers through Amazon / Eforcity for less than $2 each (plus shipping). Both of them work great. The label says it is an iPod charger, but it will work with most devices that get their power from a standard USB cable. It just converts 100-240VAC from standard USA or Japan style outlets to 5VDC and accommodates a standard USB-Type A connector. I don't own any iPod products, I got them to use with some other devices that have USB cables but didn't have AC adaptors.
So it works great for charging my TomTom Go 720 GPS unit. It also works for charging a Samsung MP3 player.
The unit I got allows you to fold in the AC Prongs which makes it easier to slip into a pocket or purse. The prongs are not polarized. It is rated for an output of 5.0V at 400mA. It has a green LED that illuminates whenever it is plugged in to a wall. The input is rated for 100-240A, so it should work in US or Japan without an adapter, or in many other countries with a simple plug adapter (adapter is not included).

I've had this thing plugged into the wall powering my iPod Nano for 2 months. It works perfectly from the start and hasn't had any problems. Seemed too good to be true from the price, but it really is a good product. I can't imagine buying a replacement charger from Apple after getting this.

"It is a very nice item but in the picture it show a white charger although it doesn't specify like it should, so I led to believe it was white but infact it was black. It still works nicely though."

I've had this for 6 months or so and it works great. Much faster than charging on the computer. The price was perfect at $1 and change and the shipping was only $2.95 or so. A great deal!! Now I see the price is $21. Come off it and get real.

Yes, the price is low. Yes, the shipping and handling is a little high. Still, the total price here was less than I found elsewhere. The item itself does exactly what it claims. Powers and charges my iPod through the USB cable. Worked like a charm.
Side notes that don't affect functionality: The image is right, the plug does not fold in so carrying it in your pocket is a no-go. The LED power indicator is red and rather bright. It's just a little wider than a standard plug. Not quite wall-wart sized, but big enough that it'll make it cramped for other items on your power strip.
