| Customer Reviews:
Doesn't charge newest ipods November 17, 2008 I returned this and got the 'P' version (all black including the speaker screen). The new version charges the new ipods (new nano 4G, itouch, iphones). Plus it's shielded so it doesnt screech when u have an iphone attached to it and u get a call.
good sound for a small space November 4, 2008 I purchased this item based on the reviews of other purchasers. Maybe I am too fussy, but I think the sound is a little 'tinny'...still, it is capable of producing adequate sound in a small room and the price was reasonable. It didn't work when I first set it up, but the unit battery was absolutely flat....charged it up on my computer, tried again, and it worked just fine. And, I think I may be able to tweak the equalizer to generate better sound on future recordings.
Just what I wanted! October 29, 2008 My wife and I wanted a way to listen to music in our sitting room without being obtrusive and this was a great solution. Small enough that it hides behind a picture frame, the JBL produces a sound big enough to fill our first floor but crisp enough to be clear at lower volumes. The sound is slightly reminiscent of Bose sound (less bass, more natural) and does not seem to suffer from distortion (so far). The remote is a handy feature, though like all things related to iPod it is tiny and I'm sure it will get lost too soon. Like other docks, the JBL does charge the iPod. However, compared to the Bose unit, this one seems smaller - I'm actually tempted to start bringing it to the office with me.
I would not consider using this as a main sound setup. Most desktop computer speakers can probably outperform this unit. But, for a low price, and for out of the way use, I absolutely recommend the On Stage. The JBL brand means that it is a quality speaker that will last.
good for short term use October 25, 2008 Good sound at first, but after a few months the quality reduced dramatically. Volume changes on its own for one, and there is a crackling sound that comes along with the bass. Would not get this unless you want something that lasts less than a year.
Nice, especially for the prce. October 24, 2008 Mine arrived today and sounds very clear, no crackling noises as others have mentioned on various reviews. I'm particular about my sounds, this is clean and crisp. This for travel, and it will work very well for what I wanted it for. For home use, I'd probably get a Bose though. But for $68 it is nice. I've tried one or two out and never really liked the size, this one is about right. The instructions are concise, cables and remote are very handy. A protective cover/case would have been great. The remote is basic, no options for scrolling through the menus. The instructions says the Classic has to connected via the 3.5mm jack, this is not true, mine is running very well in the dock.
Currently I have tried a few different styles of music, and so far, so good.
