Applecare Warranty Shortened By Apple October 25, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This a great warranty. But in this case, Apple shortened the warranty by 3 months because, according to Apple, Amazon purchased the computer from Apple in May and the warranty started when Amazon bought the computer to resell instead of when I bought the computer from Amazon. Is this crazy or what? I bought the computer brand new from Amazon. The warranty should have started on the day on which I purchased it! In reality I should have given it only 2 stars.
A waste of money, just buy a decent protective case instead and get ready to replace your battery in 3 yrs regardless. August 5, 2008 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
Just pay for the iPod using a credit card that offers some kind of damage and theft protection instead of paying Apple for useless tech support and the privilege of receiving another defective iPod to replace the one they just sold you and the precious Apple Care warranty.
Apple tech support is worthless since their most common solution is just reset the iPod and if that doesn't fix it, then just format it and restore it back to factory defaults.
That is the advice you get for a pay per incident call or for this useless protection plan.
Their tech support is only good for those of us who won't RTFM and would rather spend 10 minutes on hold so we can yell at a support rep who can't figure out we're asking them a trick question with no possible answer or solution while we revel in their ineptitude masquerading as sincerity while trying to research our impossible dilemna.
The batteries on these things go bad in 3 yrs which is a common life expectancy for most portable batteries including laptop computers.
But, you can't get a battery warranty for an iPod in 3 yrs.
I DON'T suggest you buy a Microsoft Zune as an alternative nor am I going to engage in the dogmatic equations of since one is bad the other must be good.
Microsoft has their own host of problems too.
There are two kinds of people in this world, those who are stupid enough to think there only two kinds of people and the rest of us who understand things are too complex to be defined in only two ways.
Great Price May 11, 2008 If you are going to get the protection plan this is a great place to buy since you save $10 bucks. Easy to registar I have the I-Pod Classic and feel that it is worth it incase anthing goes wrong. I had the protection plan for my mini and 5 days before my plan ran out. It died and they relaced it. It gave me 2 more years of happy ipoding until it was stolen.
Excellent protection for your iPod! February 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Adds another year to your iPod warranty. So after purchase and registering AppleCare your iPod is covered out to 2 years from the date of purchase of the iPod.
Worth every penny!! January 30, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I got a 30gb iPod about 23 months ago in trade for some work I did for an acquaintance. At the time I didn't even know about the protection plan. It wasn't until I realized how much I loved this little electronic wonder that I started to worry about how I would ever replace it if it stopped working.
About 11 months after I received the iPod I purchased the protection plan from Apple. The sales rep I spoke with was well informed and very helpful. I had actually purchased the plan 11 months and 30 days after my initial iPod purchase date. I was assured that as long as I bought the plan before the original warranty expired that I could register it to my iPod at any time. She was right.
When my iPod started losing charge and shutting down intermittently about a month ago I was worried but then I remembered the protection plan. I called them up and they had the shipping materials at my door the next day. I sent the iPod out the day after and after 1 day of transit, 1 day of troubleshooting, and 1 day of return shipping I have a newly refurbished iPod back in my hands. No questions, no runaround, no hassle.
I would recommend this product to ANYONE with an iPod. These things are just too damn cool to risk losing.
