4 out of 5 stars Good buy!   November 16, 2008
Works fine. A little bulky, but the convenience of a combined radio and CD player is nice. The double-alarm feature is great, and I like the nature sounds. It's a good produce, and inexpensive. What you see is exactly what you get.

1 out of 5 stars Avoid it like the plague!   November 7, 2008
I should have listened to the gazillions of other disgruntled customers, but it was the only product that had the combination of features I wanted. What a HUGE waste of money!!!

The thing didn't work from the beginning. One speaker constantly cut out, but I had decided just to live with it. But within a month the so-called "Smart Knob" quit working entirely. Now the thing is useless - can't set the alarms, can't change the volume (permanently set at an inaudible "1"). What's the point? Can't use it as an alarm clock, can't use it as a stereo.

It's going in the garbage!

Do as I say and not as I did. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!

3 out of 5 stars Flawed but functional   November 5, 2008
I've had this alarm clock for over a year. It's functional, but flimsy. Lately the buttons on the top to set the 2 alarms frequently turn the nap timer on instead. And the button to turn the alarms on and off will change the brightness setting of the display. It's just not built well. Then there's the option to wake to any CD you want. That's what I was really looking forward to. The flaw is that it only plays the first track of the CD. You would think it would pick a track at random. I ended up burning a bunch of CDs with one track only so the clock would use the songs I wanted for the alarm, but that's a limited work around. I'm currently looking to replace this clock

4 out of 5 stars VERY PRACTICAL   October 18, 2008
I was looking for a clock/radio with a CD player when I saw the Timex.

I like the tall style and the dual alarm system.

I also like the fact that you can play the radio all night with the alarm on at the same time without using the sleep mode.

This is what I have been looking for.

5 out of 5 stars Waking up to nature sounds rocks!!   October 1, 2008

I bought a couple radios that said "Wake up to nature sounds", but they sounded so mechanical. Where do I begin...With the Timex T617S I like the choices of nature sounds; my fave is the Tibeten sounding gongs, my other half prefers the frogs. I so enjoy being able to control how bright the time face is. I prefer to have the room as dark as possible, so in the past having that very bright green blue or red lighting of the time in my room always kept me up. Third big perk is controlling how long I snooze; lot's of options. My other half absolutely LOVES the "smart knob"; being able to turn the knob to set time, versus holding down a button. Doesn't it suck when you go past the time you need and you have to keep going forward. Better yet you try and speed up the process by continuously pressing the button. It's everything we need, plus more. We love it!
